he was looking into getting a 99 F150 side step, and the ranger's too, but both were way to much on gas compared to this s10 4X4. Those little ranger with the 4L are surprisingly pig's on gas!!! My neighbor had a 2001 Ranger and traded it in for a 04 F250 Diesel.

S10Forums.com will be his new best friend. And if he spends any amount of time there I doubt it'll stay stock. lol
Good looking truck, tell him to hit me up over there if he registers. Same name, same game. :)

i dont know if that was good or bad. those 6.0L diesel motors are junk.
But we had a 99 F150, then my peratns got a 04 ranger and it got the same or worse gas milage then the F150. So they got rid of that for a 05 civic hybrid.

Wow low miles! Nice color too. But take care of that rust starting right after the door on the very bottom

Thank God you got a Chevy, you made the right choice

lol, yeah, the owner had the paint for it already too. Gonna get his brother in law to touch it up. He does it for a living so it should look like new! Yeah, the milage is amazing for a 2000. Only put on 10,000km's a year roughly. I do that in like 2 months, lol. Also comes with a warrenty, Power train and chaisis which is good till 2008. So he got lucky in getting this truck. The colour is called space blue metallic. I LOVE it. never see this colour that often on the S10's.

Do more than just cover it up, sand it down then paint it, if you dont, than it will just grow under the paint and get much worse

I don't see where he said he's going to cover it up, but I'm sure if someone does it for a living they will most likely do it the right way especially for a family memeber. :D

yeah, we're not doing it. His Bro in law will do it professionally. Clear coat and all.

Hey Justin, not sure if he knows this or not but here is a trick to shutting off the automatic headlamps and/or daytime running lights.
With the vehicle running tell him to push the "Dome Override" button about three or four times in a row until they turn off. :)
Something I figured out on accident one day. :D

cool, Good to know. Too bad that wouldn't work for my GA. lol. Somedays it may be the nicest sunniest day, and still my headlights turn on. Not the day time lights, but my actual headlights. Drives me crazy!!! Hey John, how do you find your truck on fuel??? He has gotton on the first tank 21 Miles per gallon. Just wondering if that is the norm for the 4.3L. I imagine also that you'd get better cause you have the rear wheel drive, not the 4X4.

Actually I average between 18 and 20mpg typically. What transmission and rear gearing does he have in it? I have the 4L60E automatic with a LSD 3.42:1 gears (IIRC).

LOL, WHAT???? lol I have no clue what so ever! I'll try to find out. I know it's an automatic, I assume it has 5 gears cause it has D4321, and it's got the 4X4 buttons??? I don't know if that will help to tell anything? LOL and I know it has some balls for fastness because he raced my GA home one day, and for 4X4 truck, kept right up there with me the whole time. I'll try to find out tho. He filled up again 2 days ago and he got 22.4L per gallon on that tank.

Actually it has d321, so I guess its a 4 speed auto. Borrowed the truck last night and made sure to look. I also tried that light trick you mentioned. works on his after you push the button on and off twice. Other than to stock someone, I can't imagine what use this would be for??? lol Anyway, he's been looking at getting a push bar for the front and some fender flares for the side. His B-day is coming up and I'm thinking of getting him a front set of tinted light covers for it. Seen it on a couple of S10 and Blazers around here, and they look hot on em! Any good simple upgrading techniques out there??? ANyway, I'll keep you posted!

tell him to throw gas mileage out the window and slap a small block in that thing :D

actually hes already made some upgrades on her, pics to come soon. He added a westin Safari Bar in the front. Fogs to come with it too. looking into getting tinted light cover all around, and some side steps too. slowly but surely coming together. i'm thinking of getting him for his bithday one of those nets instead of the tailgate always being there. give better gas milage plus looks good too in my opnion??? Anywho I'll keep yall post

I'm not a fan of the nets, if he wants better fuel ecconomy just drop the tailgate.
I personally would jsut get clear directions for it instead of headlight covers. Just my opinion.

actually taking the tailgate off lowers the fuel mileage. i watched it on Mythbusters one night. when your tailgate is closed there is an air bubble that circulates in the back of your truck. this big air bubble actually pushes the air that comes over the cab up and keeps it from getting down in the bed. if you want proof throw an aluminum can in the back of your truck and drive down the interstate and watch it. it'll fly around in circles and wont fly out unless it hits the wind the right way.
when you lower the tailgate there isnt an air bubble back there and the wind gets sucked down in the bed, actually creating more of a vacuum than increasing aerodynamics.
may sound crazy, but it makes sense when they explained it. :)

This is true, if you wanna add to mileage, get a Tonneu cover.
