You may have seen a few pics of my car here and there around the site, but I thought I'd just start a thread here of my car so I can hopefully get compliments and feel good about myself and then also some tips or input as well.
If anyone thinks I should do something to the car, definitely let me know, I'm open to anyone's input.
And just a general question, what color do you think I should make the RED Pontiac logo on the front? I was thinking Carbon Fiber. Lemme know what you think.

Funny you should say that, I'm actually gettin a Walker Dual Exhaust system with dual chrome tips from my buddy for $200 within a few weeks here.
He said it sounds like a Borla. :) And for $200...hell yeah I'll take it.

Well...I was lookin at that one kid's SE turned to SC/T and wet my drawers. And then was sad that I didn't have a GT to do that.
So I guess yeah, I've thought about doing the "GT Trim"...but what exactly IS the "GT Trim"? And how would one go about "doing it?"
I don't know that much about cars ha.
And I'm in the Buffalo area...0-4 last night. I wanted to cry.

Take the sticker off the trunk (Ki-Po Chevy - Lockport NY) and the chrome letters. You already have Grand Am on the third brake light. Where's that front plate?
The rest of the car looks good. I know you're looking at rims. You could use some tint too.
Check out www.TeamGI.com We go to local shows, have BBQ's and recently started playing Texas hold em.....

Yeah, I'm goin to my buddy's to debadge it today.
And yeah, I'm gonna get tint but I don't know where to go...
Ever hear of Scott's Tinting in Lockport? I heard the place sucks...but that's the only place around here I've ever heard of...

looks clean enough, but that rear end despererately needs shaved. personally I'd get rid of the grand am badge, and if nothing else please lose the dealership sticker:)
lol, I didnt see that you were shaving it before i wrote that, but if the sun is hot enough on whatever day you do it, leave the car in the sun for about an hour, you may not even need a heat gun.

Best day around here in the past 2 weeks!
Any input on the color I should make the front logo? Carbon Fiber? Black? White? Leave it?

i really love that color of your car. i say do carbon fiber for the badge, but preferably REAL carbon fiber, not vinyl.
i was gonna say to get rims and lower it. i did the GT conversion. i dont regret it, but ive seen some very nice looking SEs that look arguably better than GTs. with some nice rims and a lowering job, your car can be one of those. i wanna see it after the exhaust and debadging.

Dave, any idea where I could actually GET a real carbon fiber logo badge?
Didn't know it was possible to find them.
If you got any links to SE's that look AMAZING, send them, cause I'm all about being just that little bit different.
Now when I get rims (still can't decide between 17's & 18's), how much should I look to lower it assuming that I'll never put a kit on there. Not saying I won't, just as an assumption for now.

For the front badge, I say you color match the red area to your car. If you can't find vinyl that matches, maybe you can tape it off and sand it down then have it painted... But then again, that is a lot of work. I would advise against the CF unless you plan on tying some more CF in somehow.
Definately don't go cheap on the tint job, probably a good idea to ask to see some of their work beforehand. From what I hear it is a PAIN to take off the tint with the defroster lines, and sometimes they will get scratched and not work anymore. Get it done right the first time, and make sure the place gives you a 100% lifetime warranty on bubbles, peeling, and fading (covering tint AND labor).
BTW, I like the pinstripe :D

We have a member who moved to Buffalo last year, I'll ask him, he might know of a place.
There are places that sell CF replacement badges. Pop the old one off and stick the new one on.

Jim, I just searched the whole internet looking for a carbon fiber Pontiac logo...to no avail.
You find one for me and I'll be your new best bud. :P
Thanks for askin your buddy about the tint, just lemme know.
And Dave C, the reason I want a carbon fibre logo is cause in essence, carbon fibre is black/white.
My headlights are black/white and my pinstriping is black/white. I was goin for a pattern. :)

Sidmindz has a REAL cf arrowhead and so do I (got it from mr_eh) and those are the only two that have ever been made to my knowledge...we are talking real carbon fiber, not an overlay.
I havent installed it yet tho.

I have one in my hand that I got from ebay about a year ago. It was $14 shipped, real carbon fiber with a reddish metalflake border and star. The only problem is that it is flat and the bumper has a slight bend to it. I also have a couple of the stock emblems.
http://www.signsbydrex.com/ sells "puffy" ones. Look under liquid medalions.
They are out there, just keep looking till you find what you want.

See, yeah, that's fuggin awesome, but if it's straight, what good will it be?
Think you could use a heat gun to bend/mold it?
I'm just thinking that a vinyl overlay might just be the key.

I think that gunmetal color is sweet, but you need some wheels badly.

Im really feeling you need the GT trim and wheels.. why not just go with the SC/T.. it looks awesome.. Rennation has the right idea!

Yeah, I'd love to do it, but I don't currently have $1700 to spend on trim/kit/doors/paint/labor.

with rims and some lowering springs, you wouldn't need to get a bodykit :)
Rugglebear
05-29-2006, 06:28 PM
Good point...
The only thing I WOULD like in that case is some bottom trim for my rear bumper, actually...the rear SC/T trim for when I get my exhaust put on...
Anyone know where I could get just that piece of trim?
Would it even fit? =\

Not without the GT bumper toots..

yea, in order to get the SC/T kit, you need to have the GT sides and bumpers.

Matt, if you still like those Centerline rims, I think I can give you the contact for them... I think that I will go with the 17" style.
