I have a 2003 Grand Am Gt, I was interested in knowing if anyone had EVER purchased a hood with a scoop after having their car or from a dealer after they had already taken delivery of their vehicle. And if anyone had done this and what the average cost of doing any of the above ideas would be? I am interested in having mine with a hood scoop, but not too sure about the attachment type hood scoops from the local car parts places, or whether they ruin the hood or the spot on the hood because of the glue or adhesive used by these parts places? Also I was wondering if the air holes on the bottom of the vehicle are supposed to have the metal screening(Grills), or can be purchased, because my vehicle does not have them. If it matters I have Metallic Green Paint.
Thanks

www.pfyc.com has some hoods with scoops in them.

Those plastic stick on hood scoops 1 size fits all dont look very nice they look like stick ons. Unless you can have someone mold them nicely. I would just save the money and get a sc/t or other full hood conversion. JMO

I do agree that a new hood would be the way to go. If you do get a new hood, you can always put your old one in storage and then swap it back if you need to.

GA's didn't come with mesh in the grills, but you can purchase some from www.customcargrills.com That's where I got mine from. They have great customer service, and a high quality product. If you end up getting some grills, ask around about how to attach the bottom part of the large section. You can do it differently than their suggested way, so none of the attachments are seen.

If I didn't get the SC/T hood with my car (before I knew of any other hoods), I would definately have looked into the SD hood:

Thanks everyone for your help so far, your information has been incredible! I certainly like the SD hood style, but I am sure it would be a another thing to get the hood then painted and color matched to my car after getting it and having it installed. But I am very interested in the front grills as well, and that information is helpful also, even though mine is the less sporty 4 door version, Thanks Alot!!! I will get some pics on here one day.

No problem Stuart...

You're right that the painting would cost you as well. If you have one of the stock colors, it would be really easy to color match your car, you'd just need to get the paint code from the spare wheel well. You could save some money on that if you did the prep work yourself (ie lots of sanding). Also if you know anyone who has experience painting, they might give you a discount... And you should be able to install it yourself. My buddy put a cowl induction hood on his lifted Dodge Ram, and the only part he needed help with was lifting it up. Other than that, its just bolts.

My car is the (slighty) less sporty 4-door version as well, but since its my every day driver, the functionality was necessary. I still like to think that my car is becoming more sporty through what I've done :) (now for my own self showoff time) http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/4/web/616000-616999/616875_102_full.jpg

Alls I know is the original sticker says Metallic Polo Green, but I am not sure what the number is for the color code on the spare tire cover or what not.
Thanks Again
