View Full Version : Which spark plugs are best for me?

I'm not really concerned about performance since I only have an intake, but I ordered some Taylor plug wires, so I figured I would order some spark plugs to add to my mod list. I saw that NGK had 5 different applications for this car and engine, but I wasn't sure which one would be right for me. These are the names and part numbers:

V-Power TR55
G-Power Platinum TR55GP
Laser Platinum PTR4B-15
OE Laser Iridium ITR4A15
Iridium IX TR55IX

Any suggestions? I'm not set on NGK, but I have heard good things about them. Thanks.

AC Delco.

That is what came in it from the factory. While people on here may argue/discus about what oil is best, or which brake pads are the best...etc......

For the most part all agree AC Delco's just seem to work best in there motors.

:iagree:

Either AC Delco or the NGK TR55IX Iridiums. Both will work great in the 3x00. So-called 'perfomance' plugs do not seem to work well with the waste-spark ignition system.

All i have learned is never use Bosch(sp?). i called some shops when i first got the car and all they insisted on using was AC Delco with the GAs.

One mechanic actually said he would come over and smack me if i used anything else. Hes such a nice guy.

My family has 3 Chevys and my Grand Am. My dad is a mechanic and swears by the AC Delco Platnum plugs for the engines in all of them.

Since no one responded at first I got NGK V-Power plugs. If they mess up, I'll know to get AC Delco!

Since when? If anything it would be Champion, not NGK. (AC = Albert Champion, founder of Champion)

So a friend of a friend told you, and now you're spreading the info as fact?

I actually have no proof to dispute your claim, but I can't find any information to back up your claim either. You can believe it if you want, but I'll take it with a grain of salt for now.

ngk makes ac delco spark plugs. You can go to any auto parts store and see ngk wqritten right on the plug.

every ac delco plug i have bought does say NGK on them.the factory platinums are only for long life.the best for a stock to near stock vehicle.the tr55 ngk plugs are best for saving money.$7.51 for six of them as compared to $3.99 a plug for the platinum.i have run both and had no problems with either one.

I'm running the Bosch platinums.....didn't notice any difference whatsoever. I guess I'd get the regular Delcos for the next change.
