My brother and I was just thinking about this the other day. I have a 02 Grand Am SE. Would I be able to swap the engine out and put in a grand prix GTP engine in. Just wondering because if it is possible I will be really considering it.

You'd probably have to do some engine bay modifications aswell as relocate some engine mount loactions and transmission mount location.
The GTP engine is larger in the exterior dimensions, aswell as you'd have to make way in the bay for the intercooler that I'm sure is included with the 3.8L GTP engine.

nope, no stock intercooler on any gtp ive ever seen... IIRC the engine fits fine, its not actually any bigger than the 3400, and yes youd most likely have to do the engine mounts, the 3800 has a couple more than the 3400 anyways.

like i said do a search, its been covered numerous times.

I agree with Colin, there is alot more to just swapping on in in favor of the other. Engine/transmission, computer and wire harness, and new shafts just to name a few.

ya, sorry i shoulda looked myself, but got lazy and didnt recall right:roll2:. Just goes to show that I don't have much engine experience other than my own... thats why i said "if i recall right" and suggested he search for the info. I know its there, if i really need it ill research it. He would've figured out more about what he'd need in a proper search anyways.

My bad, lol.
