i was wondering... well i was looking through a magazine about cars i noticed that most cars had 2 air filters on them... the induction was split and there was 2 air filters.. why do they have it split? wouldnt that be to much airflow?

No such thing as to much air flow.

I don't think that is right, what are you reading?
Maybe a Lambo or Ferrari, but what are you reading?

That sounds like it is an aftermarket upgrade, I can't tell.
The only 2 air filters I know of that a car would come with is a Cabin Air Filter and the Intake Air Filter.

Not really much of a point to it. Just another one of those trends in pointless mods I guess.
Here... we had some past discussion about it...

wont there be to much air going through and wont that mess up the mass air flow sensor?

but it's still only pulling in so much anyway, no matter how many filters you put on it
it's not forced air induction

That sounds liked a ram air system to me.
I know I've seen on some vipers a Y pipe going to the throttle body with to air filters at the end of the pipes.
These were sitting under the hood scoop to make best use of the air being drawn in through the scoop.

I've seen this done with custom parts from Spectrum products or something like that. I don't see any possible improvement on this, as the one's I've seen have a filter over by where the filter box used to be, and the other one hanging out behind the radiator fan. It seems pointless to me, because the one behind the fan is going to be taking in warmer air than the other one, defeating the purpose. This was done on a 4cyl. I'd imagine it would work nicely if the throttlebody was centered in the engine, and you Y piped each one off to the side.

Ive heard that technically if you go from a larger tube (or 2 tubes) to a smaller tube it will increase air velocity....not sure how effective it is but it kinda makes sense........i would think it would only give you a couple hp at max and it wouldn't really be worth the time to install....

think that it would provide a deeper noise in higher rpms or less?

Same. The engine and intake manifold interior dimensions itself will determine the sound once the stock resonators/silencers are eliminated. Again, no advantage in having 2 filters really.
