The best one for the $$$$ and or power.
The most reliable.

why didnt you just post this in your other thread?
it would be just as hard to get a 2.4 into your car as it would a 3.1 Your best bet is to just upgrade your SOHC to a DOHC for the sake of ease.

i am guessing you are talking about swaping a motor into whatever car you have? maybe........

sounds like that.... just swap that POS SOHC up to s DOHC HO and be done with it youll get a good HP return.. better than any of the other options youve thought about, and it will require the least amount of work for it to happen.

Cheapness = 2.3
Ease of swap = 2.3
Power (stock) = 2.3 HO
Power (NA mods) = 2.3 HO
Power (Boost) = 2.4
The 2.4 would not be easy to run in the 92-95 chassis due to electrical / PCM / BCM reasons.
Any DOHC 2.3 or 2.4 will be miles ahead of the SOHC 2.3 in terms of reliability.
am i able to remove the 2.4 in my 99 and put a 2.3?

Neither if you have an automatic.

If you want to swap the harness, computer, cluster and who knows what else. Not to mention if you have inspections it might not be considered street legal.

Not easily since the 2.3 cannot be run off the 2.4 PCM. In other words, I agree with LargeFish.

You'd be better off running an ecotec in the 1999. At least you can hack the harnesses a bit easier...
Plus the ecotec block is better for boost than an old 2.3 anyways. Its easier to get mods for the 2.2L L61 too due to the J Bodies and the Cobalt/Pursuit/G5.
