OK so i'm pulling my engine at the end of the week, and I started checking some things out, and my cylinder pressure on the 2 cylinders I checked were 80 and 90 psi....

What should they be? for some reason I'm thinking at least 120 as much at 150 ??? its the 3100

Its sucking in LOTs of oil through intake, I'm guessing the piston rings are baked, but could the Valve stem seals also be scrap?

Sucking oil through the intake? Or is it just burning oil?

Oil from the intake only means you have a bad intake gasket, or a possible crack but I doubt that.

Bad rings will make it burn oil and have low cylinder pressure, and valve seals are cheep and easy to replace so why not do it anyhow.

I thought you had a buddy that built engines and such doing this for you anyhow?

sorry I didn't exactly mean the intake...lol.... like the... Vacuum lines that come off the valve covers.... I shoulda just said that the first time.....

Well actually now that I think of it, I guess it doesn't matter if the valve stems are gone, cause I got the 2003 3400 top end..... New seals there.....

Actually I do have a good friend thats an engine builder, but I prefer not to expect him to dig me outta my engine problems.... plus I find working on the engine fun....

and look at Colin coming through again....lol.. Thanks man, I looked all over this site, Chevelle.com, and yahoo search, but with no results....lol.. yeah so my compression is about just more than half of what it should be.....lol...I'm guessing thats why it runs like a $H!T house...lol...

OOOO and..... what plenum can be used, seeing as its EGR setups are really different...???? :S confused....

your compression should be roughly 17-20x your compression ratio so if your compression ratio is 9:1 then it should be between 154 and 180 psi then the highest and lowest cylinder should be 5% apart. and if its under 130 psi then your deff due for a new engine or a rebuild.
