I've had my '00 Grand Am SE for a while and its been great. I recently installed new brake rotors and pads, tie rods, belts, oil/ filter, and tune up stuff like that- i didnt need to, but just to keep it at its best. The only problem with it is that its an auto transmission, but im planning on adding some performance upgrades. In a few days im putting in a cold air intake with a K&N filter, but im not sure what else there is to do with a Grand Am, especially since its auto. Im sure theres more people out there with the same issue, so if anyone has some ideas, it would really help, thanks.

*if your wondering, im willing to put in about a grand at most.

CAI, cat-back exhaust, and underdrive alternator pulley are the only 'easy' engine upgrades.
No headers.
No useful 'chips' to my knowledge.
Everything else requires tearing into the engine itself (port-and-polish the intake manifold is feasible, especially if you gotta do a LIM gasket).

There are better OTC rotors and pads available.

There are strut tower brace systems, as well as lowering springs/struts and 'performance' suspension bushings.

See the specialty Forums for the 3.4 engine and for Handle It! suspension mods.

Hmmm,.. just a few,...
Headers, cam, heads, pcm flash, intake manifold, throttle body, maf sensor.

There's alot more out there than you'd think, just get gooleing & you'll see!:)

With only a grand to spend i would do headers and full exhuast, biggest bang for a grand.

Please search before posting...there is an entire section on performance upgrades, and a section specifically for the 3400 engine. BTW, the problems and solutions section is not the proper place for this. :)
