If you have read my other post "This was awesome!!". I will be soon putting in four 12" type-r's. Going to need a bigger alternator, but have no idea where to even begin. Somebody just tell me what size and where to buy it for a decent price and I will go do it. Thanks for your all's help.

depends how many watts ur pushin. Most people dont need a high amp alt, usually an auxiliary batt. or a nice size capacitor will do the trick, let us know how many watts the amps r that will b pushin these.

PS I have 1 type R and I cant say enough good things about it!
Peace,
Andrew

If you dont egt a bigger amp alternator and your putting in a big system...or thinking about putting in a bigger system down the road you might want to do the Big 3....bacsically upgrading your wires from the battery to the alt. the batteries ground and i think the other one is the batteries power wire...somewhere along those lines.

Good luck.

EDIT: Didnt see that you were that same guy.

Iraggi makes some nice high amp alternators if you are looking to upgrade. I would also suggest doing the "Big 3" and a yellow top or auxillary battery in the trunk. Click here (http://search.stores.ebay.com/Iraggi-Alternator-and-Electronics_Iraggi_W0QQftsZ2QQsaselZ35089818QQsofp Z0)

I will be putting in four 12" type-r's and two Rockford Fosgate T1000 amps. Going to get a couple capacitors to go along with it though and a optima yellow top battery.

Careful with capacitors, there IS such a thing as too much. Capacitors aren't very efficient - they will dissipate about half of the power they store.

how would you run two caps? run wire to the first cap then from the first cap run another wire to the 2nd cap and then run the other wire from the 2nd cap to the amp/dist. block? and ground both?

if you are getting a bigger alternator and doing the big 3 and getting a yellow top would you really need caps?

I probably wouldn't even need the capacitor's. Doubt I buy them now though.

i like them, if for nothing else, the digital readout and to add looks.

dcblackbird, yes that's how you'd do it.

If there is a lot of AC content in the signal (such as the output of a rectifier) then yes they will dissipate some energy due to the fact that they have an impedance to AC current...I^2*R. BUT in a system that is purely DC like in a car, they will have virtually no power loss because they are charging/discharging on a very light duty cycle.

I would still add a cap to the system because no alternator will put out enough current during heavy bass peaks at idle to support that much power...it's not going to hurt.
