Hey guys, i was hooking up new lights to the lights under the dash where the peddles are. anyways the power wire touched the e brake and it blew a fuse. now all my lights in the interior are out. and i can't seem to find out which fuse needs to be changed. anyways its a 94 4 door if that matters. if anyone could get back to me asap, that would be great because i'm gona be fiddling around with it until sumone helps me.

Pull all the fuses and look at them.

Check all the fuses, if they all look fine then I guess you blew a relay? Not sure, but it's what I'd check next. make sure you check all the fuses, if you're not sure if one's blown, replace it, fuses are cheap.

i have replaced every fuse there is. now as for this relay, i'm unfamiliar wit hthat term lol fill me in on what to check?

If the fuses are good, you likely blew the "Multi-function alarm module" (an early version of a BCM) The early versions had internal fusing that is possible to replace with some soldering, but I hear some of the newer ones are non-serviceable and must be replaced. The module is attached to the 'convenience center' that is up under the dash.

ok so if u could just put that in terms as if it was my first day at public school, just tell me where to look wat to solder and my car is a 94 so i don't know if that would be considered newer ones

I am talking about the 94 one.

Not that simple to do over the internet. General location here in bottom half:

As for fixing the module, you're on your own... No service data or schematics exist. Plus we don't know exactly what you broke. If you haven't done electronics repair before, replace the module with one from a junkyard.

thanx, i am gona look into it then if nothing persists i'm gona just send it to sumone

This should teach you to unhook your battery when doing electrical.

it only took me three fuses to learn that one. :roll2:

No offense anybody but it's a good rule of thumb ANYtime you work with wiring to DISCONNECT that thing!...Blown more fuses myself than I would have liked to! (not even gonna tell about that in my 93 Taurus)

is it just me or is this so called module a REAL b*tch too get at. if there is an easy way to getting to this box let me know. and just ot make sure i am correct. it is like a pinkish box correct? it looks like i have to completely rip apart my whole dash. my steeringwheel and everything. before i do this, is there way to just disconnect it and pull it out from the back?

Remove the cover that's above the pedals for easier access... lay on the floor and look up.

I don't recall it being pink... thought it was black in mine.

MOST GA'S BCM are black not pink. all you should have to do is take out the glove box! It's that easy.

ok i'm totally lost now. under the glove box? i thought it was under the drivers side. see this is what i mean , i know nothing about nothing.

ok now looking at the picture Matt95Gt sent. i am now 100% sure that this pink thing is the module. Can i just pull it out from the back without disconnecting it? i tried tugging on it and it is loose but i am not 100% sure if its attached to anytihng

This is a 94... there is no actual BCM, nor is it behind the glovebox.

His information doesn't apply... that's only newer GA's.

IIRC it simply plugs into the convenience center. If you need help locating that convenience center, I would suggest turning on the 4-way hazard flashers (not the turn signals), then tracing the sound/feeling to the silver round flasher unit - that flasher unit is plugged into the same convenience center. The module you need to swap is next to it.

Disconnect the battery before you unplug anything though!!!

ok so far so good. now . there was 2 things beside the silver knob, a big pink thing about 5 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide and about 1 inch depth, then there was a small lil white box. i pulled out the big pink one. anyways now that i pulled it out. is there anyways to tell if its broken. and not sure if this matters but the fuse box never got any power at all where the fuse goes in. (just found that out) anyways with this pink box, if i hook the battery back up, can i drive my car still without the pink thing> because i won't be getting a new pink thing until tomorrow or so. and i work later on tonight

Aside from testing with a known-good spare or disassembling it to diagnose, there's no easy way to tell.

Leave the broken multi-function alarm module connected until you have a replacement... it also controls the seat belt release solenoids in the door. The seat belts could potentially stay released during an accident - that is a major safety issue.

alright will do. i also mentioned about the fuse box not having any power where the fuse is suppose to go. that still could mean its the Module that is causing the problem? as well. before i get my hopes up on thinking this is the problem. is there any other possible ways it could have broken in the wiring or sumthing?

What exactly do you mean that the fuse box isn't getting power? How/where did you determine this. Yes, there can be other problems, such as fusible link burned up.

Oh, the neighbor has a 92-95 N-body too? That's rather convenient.

No prob :)

^^ thats pretty cool of your neighbor. I wish my neighbor had a 96-98 GA, a white coupe to be my car's opposite.
