After seaching it, I can't find out the answer to whether or not I can buy a new shift knob from Auto Zone, and screw it on in place of my stock one. Also, what would I do with the overdrive button on the stock shift knob??? Just tape off the connection in the off position?

find a pushbutton on/off or any toggle switch and relocate it.
like here for example(yes i know different generations, just for a visual)
Heres a good switch, small, easy to hide, wont get bumped easily.

edit..again: As for the shifter, i wouldnt see why it wouldnt work, if it has the same diameter and mechanism, it should work. But then again i never had experience with that so go figure. Hope this helped.

when i swapped my shifter knob, i just took the two wires that run to the ets switch, cut them off just before the switch, and wired them together....my ets is constantly on, but that's how i had before with the stock shifter anyhow....but you can also run it to a toggle switch as gerald said...

I never use the ETS, so could I just cut the 2 wires as you did, but instead just cover both the ends.. and leave 'em disconnected? That would make it constantly off, correct, but would it hurt anything?

leaving the ets on or off wont hurt anything either way... but with the ets on youll not be able to spin the tires if you ever have to. so if youre a decent driver on imperfect roads youll be fine with it off. All ets doesis if one wheel is spiining due to ice or snow or water, it will make the timiing retard so that the engine loses some power so as to stop the spinning and allow you to regain control. So if youre not worried about anything like that, go ahead and leave it off. otherwise just put a switch someplace, itll take an extra 10 minutes to do that.
