02 ga...how do i get the shift knob off

sorry if this is a repost but how in the hell do i gat that shift knob off without breaking the orignal ??? i cant seem to get it off. any help will be great...thanks !

If it's an automatic, there is a big staple kind of thing that you remove. Do the search.

If it's a five speed manual, I don't know. I haven't searched yet either but I got a new shifter knob as a gift.

Yup automatic has a big staple looking thing on the front side of the shift knob.Just take a small screwdriver or something small and pull it out then the shift knob should come right off.
