I just ordered a DHP PCM for my car (my father's day gift) and I have a question for everyone that has one.
Is it absolutely necessary to do the case learn (crankcase position error code DTC P1336) that is stated in the pfyc website? The reason I'm asking is that at my local GM dealership, the can be difficult. I know that they are probably going to reflash the PCM even if I tell them not to.
Those it really hurt the car or it's performance if I don't do it?
Is there anyone driving there's without doing the case learn? any problems?
Any imput will be greatly appreciated.

just swap the pcm and do the same procedure for the theft pass , i think its like turn it to on 3 times for 11 minutes each or something

If you get a service light...you have to do a case relearn

a case learn is necessary for the knock sensors. i dont know how important it would be in a GA. you should alway do a case learn when swapping PCMs

P.S and if i where you take off the ported MAF. You can descreen but not port it. Trust me again ;)

Why? Why do you say that?
Besides It's not like I can reattach the metal piece i cut off.
Anyways, I installed the DHP and I'm going to have the case learn done on friday.

You shouldn't de-screen the MAF either. You may get lucky and it will run decent, or, the alternative is surging, harsh shifts, or even speed density mode.
If you want to go toying around with your MAF, get a Powrtuner so you can tweak the MAF table.

Is this a dhp Digital Horsepower Inc. PowrTuner from pfyc.com and if it is what does it do exactly?

yes and yes, it retunes the pcm , on newer cars the computer controls how much fuel is pumped when x amount of air is taken in and when to shift and yada yada yada , so with the dhp pcm they have already tuned it then they send it to you , with a power tuner you can tune the pcm yourself using computer software

ABOUT CASE LEARN:
It is advisable to make a trip to the dealer and instruct them you have a DTC P1336 which calls for a CASE learn. Some may refer to it as a Crank Positioning. Use some degree of discretion while asking them *NOT* to reflash the PCM. If they reflash the PCM, all your tweaks are gone forever. It's a simple process that should take no more than 5 minutes. Most dealers do not have a problem with it. Many do it for free while other may charge a modest fee for it.

its pretty easy but you do have to have a TechII(GM scan/diagnostics tool) to do the Crank Postion Sensor learn. Basically you rev the car to the rev limiter while in neutral and then the TechII tells you to do it again and thats about it.

I was unable to do a case learn when i installed my DHP, everything was locked out to the HPT. but i have not service engine soon light so im not concerned.
if there is no SES light, a case learn is NOT required.

So everyone who's got the DHP, do you have straight line power or did the power move? Cos I think my power moved to higher band. When I step on the gas, I don't feel any serious acceleration until I get to about 3500 rpm.
