I was reading in the FAQ that when you are installing an amp, you want to route the RCA cables down the opposite side of the car than the remote/positive cable. I had never heard this before, why?

Probably to avoid EMI interference. correct me if I am wrong

Thats what I was thinking, I just didn't know how common it was for that to happen..

I ran my power wire down the driver's side, and RCA(s) and my CB atanna wire down the pass side.
better safe than sorry

That's all it is... Always put your power wire and RCA's on different sides of the car.

YOu don't HAVE to route them down opposite sides of the car but its suggested the power and audio cables are at least 18" appart.Yet typically when installing a sub amp, you could get away with routing them down the same side. That amps low pass filter will filter out the high frequency alternator whine.

Yup... to avoid interference. I forgot when installing on my first car. It had alternator whine... ended up having to move it later.

honestly...its a good practice but 99% of the shops out there wont do it.
if you think about you have power cables all over the car. theres no way to get away from it, but your amp power cables are so large and so much current is running though those cables that its a smart thing to do if you install your own amps.
and yes, it is to avoid getting Electro-Magnetic Interference into your audio components.

I will probably do it when I install mine, might as well.
Also, where do you guys normally bring your amp wires in through the firewall on these cars? On my 92 I ran it through the fender/door and I didn't even have to drill a hole, but it doesn't look like it will be that easy on this one. Post some pictures if you guys can, thanks

on the drivers side theres gromet thats under the carpet or its kinda high behind the dash (cant remember exactly). remove the under dash panel and you should see it, the computers wires run through it. theres two layers of it, so carefully cut the inner layer, and run a flathead through to the other side.
