Well here is my dilemma, I have 2 10" Pioneers in a fair size box with a 800 W Mono Pioneer Amp (360w rms @ 2ohm), everything good there. Now what I was wondering is I planned on mounting the amp to the back of the sub box. Reason being is that if I need to haul something larger that I need to pull the seats down I can just disconnect the subs and amp for that trip, haul the cargo and then throw everything back in.

Here is where I am unsure if this will work, I plan to use the stock HU, so I am just going to tap into the rear 6x9s for the speaker leads and run that to the amp. Next running 4 ga power and ground cable to the amp, then for the remote turn on, I was searching the forums and couldn't turn up the correct colour coming of the stock HU for a 2000 GA, so if someone could help me with that connection, muchly appreciated.

Lastly and my main point, will I be able to just unscrew all the connections from the amp (sub wires, remote wire, ground and power) and then cap them (so they don't touch another metal surface) while leaving the 60A inline fuse on the power line and everything else still hooked up?

Sorry for the "journal entry" but just wanna make sure as I want the disconnect and reconnect to be as quick as possible. All other techniques of achieving the same outcome will be taken into consideration.

I would pull the fuse just to be safe, plus its quick and easy. Just cheap insurance. If you pull the fuse, you won't even have to cap off the wires

So you figure I can just unscrew all the connections from the amp and then route them outta the way, plus I'd have to cap the remote wire (since if it touches something it would send some voltage) but then just yank the inline fuse and call it a day?

Yep, that will work

Always remove the power line fuse. These are even easier than unscrewing each power wire...

I put an insulated female quick disconnect on the end of the remote turn-on line. There is a short wire from the amp remote line screw to a male quick disconnect. I don't have to tape it off when the system is removed, although I also have amp kill switches under the dash.

Many amps use a small connector plug for high-level (speaker-level) inputs... could just yank that out too.

That combo would mean no screwdrivers needed.

that sounds like a good idea, never thought of the female and male connections on the remote turn on lead or power cable & ground. Although would I still have to pull the inline fuse since the power cord would then have an insulated connector on the end?

Its so easy, why not do it just to be safe? I would

why not mount your amp on back of the seats, so you just have to take the speaker wire to the subs off?

That would be in the way if he plans on hauling stuff with the seats folded down. I also prefer having it mounted to the box.

Yes that is correct, I was looking for a place to put the amp in the trunk so I could just take the sub wires out, but too much custom fabrication needed for this time. So right now the amp is mounted to the side of the sub box, allowing easy access to the screw to unconnect everything as I couldn't find any of those connectors locally.

Last 2 questions, is the remote wire from the stock HU actually blue? and pretty sure I know the answer to this one but want to make sure, when removing the inline fuse, you have to take the negative battery cable off otherwise you run the risk of wrecking the amp correct?

I'm not sure if stock headunits even have a remote wire... have to check with the 99+ people.

The negative battery cable can stay on... however it's a safety precaution for yourself/battery in the event that when removing the fuse it somehow touches any metal. I placed my fuse holder so close to the battery that it simply isn't long enough to touch anything.
