Sorry in advance for the long post but....

I just traded in my old setup (2 type r's, e1400d, ported), for this new setup (RF T2, 500/1, ported).

When i mentioned it to people, they were like WTF, y not keep the type r's and upgrade to the 500/1, then i replied by saying, the grand am is heavy as it is, w/o the type r's in the trunk, among other things. I drive this car everyday for school and work and gas is a b!tch with the amount of driving i do daily! Oh yeah, just to make things clear, the reason why i did this is because i wanted more space and less weight in the trunk, without losing much bass in the process! Then they were like.... sorry man! Anywayz...

At first i was planning to keep just one of my type r's and get the 500/1 to power it, cause they're both rated at 500w rms, so i thought it would be perfect, but the guy at the store said powering the type r with the 500/1 is going to result in pushing the sub past its limit cause of the quality of the amp, so i said i wanted the RF T1 instead, but he said the same thing, so then he suggested the T2, which was only about 40 bucks more than the T1, so i took it cause it sounded like a good deal, hopefully!

Now to my questions! Am I foolish to listen to the guy and take the T2 over my type r or the T1, because of the 500/1. Also, i've only heard good things about the amp, is it one of the best amps out there compared to others around the same rms output? Or is it crappy? Now finally, is the T2 a good sub, i know absolutely nothing about RF, i just agreed to get it cause of the price (it was WAY cheaper than the type x's, w6's and w7's available there), i am a strong believer in u get what u paid for theory, but it just sounded so good, or was it?

Once again, sorry for the long ass post, but any suggestions and opinions on my current situation would be very nice!

Thankx!

The Type R's will take more than 500 watts and the 500/1 is a little underrated. The two would have worked together well to tell you the honest truth. The guy doesnt seem like he really knows what he is talking about, because you dont run the amps with the gain all the way up which = clipping which in turn leads to a blown sub. Clipping causes more blown speakers than does overpowering them. It is good to have more power than you need because of headroom. Headroom is power available for peaks in the music that the amp will faithfully reproduce without distortion or clipping to put it simply. Just set your gains correctly and you shouldnt have any problems! There, now you have two points to go back to that comission working salesman with and prove him wrong!

I'd have to agree. I know of a number of people who run that exact setup (Type R on a 500/1) and love it and are problem free.

In terms of the amp though, the 500/1 is one of the most popular and best selling amps out there right now and I hear very few complaints about it.

so... will one type r sound just as good, or even better than the T2 powered by the 500/1, or is there a noticible difference?

I still have a day before the install/tradeoff!

Thankz!

well, after thinking about the situation, i'll keep one of my type r's and have it powered by the 500/1, i'll just save the $300 for the T2 for somethin else!

it sounds awesome, it doesn't pound as loud as the old setup, but, it is way more accurate and u can actually "feel" the bass, instead of only "hearing" it!

thankz for the opinions/posts, i probably would have kept with the T2, and be very disapointed with the results!
