Hey All...

Thanks for the advice on my last post, I picked up my 96 ga se and love it, I think it's perfect for a first car. I just had some questions about some mechanical stuff. The 2.4 l Twin Cam engine, could someone give me a " twin cam for dummies" kind of response? I know close to nothing about the mechanical aspect of a car and from the little I have read, it seems out of all 4 cyl. engines, the twin cam is a pretty good one. What makes it different from the others? Also, I was looking to add a cd player, does anyone have any recommendations on a player under in or around th $100 range? And lastly, while looking at different cars, you get to see how each company has a parallel of anothers model ( ie sunfire/cavalier) what , if any, is the grand am parallel in another make?? thanks in advance.....

Twin Cam not much to say.. 150-155 hp, put in the GA 96-01. The Twin Cam was just a wee better than the Quad 4, but more dated than the Ecotec. I have a V6 so i dont know about Performance...

Buick Skylark, Olds Achieva, Chevy Malibu...

Well i dont know what you are looking for in terms the twin cam. Its a 2.4L engine with DOHC makes 150hp (if you want some spefic info then just ask).

The cavalier and sunfire are both J-bodies (both are made by GM, and sold threw GMs brands as the above two cars)

The Grand AM is an N-body. Buick Skylark, Olds Achieva, Olds Alero, Olds Calias, Chevy Malibu, Cutlass and i think there are more, these where made from around 1988-2005 Any other car that has the same name was built on a different platform (like the Cutlass's from the early 80's that were rear wheel drive)

And if you look at the rest of GMs lineup, most all the cars share a platform with another car in the GM family.
