HEY I WANT TO CHANGE MY SHIFT KNOB (automatic) and I don't even know if its possible with my grand am, or how to do it. Mine has that side button release. Can I get any automatic shift knob, or a side button one? I have a 2000 Grand am SE

i've seen it done, but don't know how it was done.... do a search for it, it's probably been posted before.

yea you can do it. put your car into first gear (shifter all the way back) and then pull the boot down then theres a little staple. pull that out then the top just comes off. there is auto shift knobs you can buy for your GA. you're going to need one with a button on it. it doesnt have to be on the side it can be on top.
try searching on the board to there are a few threads...

You can also use the one out of a Cavalier, 96 for sure and up to 99 I think before they changed styles.

most GM ones will fit fine. I have the 99+ knob on my 94, it fits perfect. Or you can go aftermarket.
