got all the framework done on my box for 03 gagt coupe, no staples for stapler, so wrap it tomorrow. hopefully i get good weather for the next couple of days. plan to paint it metalflake black, with amp recession upholstered grey, and back of box (facing seat) in the grey as well. first serious venture in fiberglass.

undecided on head unit right now, speakers will probly stay stock, and sub/amp from couple years ago . . . Alpine MRD-M500, with 2 MB Quart RWC254. its a sealed box, with between .65 and .8 ft^3

thanks for the replies, i dont think i will flush mount the subs, but instead make a trim ring that is same diameter as outside of mounting ring, that will cover mounting screws. unsure how it will eventually be finished. as for the amp, its a prehistoric alpine (2002 model i think) but . . it was their first digital, so all my settings are under the aluminum flipup plate with the little black screen on it. i worked late today, so i only got it wrapped in fleece, tomorrow i will probably start glassing

Dosen't seem too bad. It looks like it flows nice. Hopefully its the pics, but...wheres the shine?

its partly the pictures, partly the paint. it says to use rubbing compound after 48 hours to make it shine. i have it upstairs in our shop right now, where it is probably 45+*Celsius (its about 34-35 outside right now) this should bake the paint on fairly hard.

thermometer placed on sub box just leveled off at 49*Celsius, and its 6:05 in the evening, so the sun isnt shining directly on the roof, its facing the front of the shop.

upon further investigation, thermometer didnt level at 49* thats just as high as it goes.

i used dupli-color truck/van/suv paint. its black with a kinda light gold metalflake in it. it shows different colors depending on the light though. it worked out good with the curves on the top corners and sides, because it flows with the trunk setup fairly nice, it flares out in front. im happy with it. i just need to attach the back piece, my bottom trim piece, finish amp recession, and do the electrical side of it.

Id shoot it with a few coats of clear then wet sand and buff it out. It'll definately shine then.

ill try the rubbing compound first, and if it doesnt work then ill spray clear

I kinda like the "not as shiney" look.

i think im gunna keep it the way it is, now that it has hardened up, it looks kinda dull, but you still see the metalflake, and it still has a slight glisten to it. i like it the way it is.
