i have a '02 grand am and i removed hte stock radio (monsoon) and i placed a eclipse in there and got my amp and new speakers nad subs hooked up. however the front speakers seem like they don't have enough power to them and the driver side speaker cuts off after i have the car started for a couple mins (cuts no sound to sound when i put it in drive sometimes too then dies again) oh yeah and the switch for the fog light doens't turn the fog lights on anymore. can someone tell me what is wrong and how i migh be able to fix it, i tried searching and couldn't find anyhting. not sure if things got jacked up when i installed the sound system or the security system and not sure how its possble. any advice?

My only advise, since i don't know anything about the newer(99+) Grand Ams, would be to check all your connections on your head unit. Re-crimp, or re-sodder all the wires to make sure they are connected right. Make sure all your fuses are good too. The fog lights might be on a seperate fuse. Check your connections, then try everything again.

I'd say putting it in gear and having the sound cut out is just coincodence. There really isn't anything related that would cause it, except a change in voltage, but that would be so small it wouldn't matter. If I had to guess I'd say it might be the Monsoon amp on its way out, or possibly a speaker wire grounding out.

is there a way that i can remove the monsoon amp? i was thinking it had something to do with that but the harness i got was suppose to be able to bypass the amp. im not even sure where the monsoon amp is, so if it is the monsoon amp im gonna need some help on where its located and what to do.

I know there have been threads about i before, but the monsoon amp in located in the trunk behind the arpeting either on the back of the seat or on the rear inner fender well. As far as bypassing it all you'd have to do is find the inputs (from the headunit) and the outputs (going to the speakers) and basically connect them to the corresponting ones LF- input to the LF - output and so on.
