ok so ive got 4 kyb struts for my car and ive lowered in 2" with canuck motorsports springs

ive currently got 15" steelies on could someone give me some advice what i could do next to improve?

bigger rear (and front, but rear will do more) sway bar.

bigger wheels with good, low profile tires will do a world of good too.

Get STBs for front and rear , and like was mentioned some good performance tires on light weight rims will really help .

the weight of the rims wont matter much, lightweight ones matter more for acceleration since they are unspring weight and such. but the biggest handleing mod u can do is some widder wheels, maybe 17X7-7.5 or something, and then good low profile tires...say somewhere around 245/45/17

don't forget to change all your bushings out to poly.... besides that, without doing major modification, i think your done.

I think 245 would be pushing it for 7.5" wide wheels.. I'm planning on 245's and I'm geetting 8.5" wide wheels for that. Technically, you can, and it works well for autox where you want lots of grip in low speed environments, but for higher speed stuff, you'd want more sidewall support so you don't roll over onto the sidewalls.

The very best mod you can do is to tighten the nut behind the wheel - driver improvement; go to a driving class and learn learn learn. This mod is also transferrable to new cars, which is nice.

If not that, then I'd say some 17x7.5 or 17x8 or 17x8.5 or whatever fits on the GA, and some nice summer tires. Hankook RS2-Z212's are inexpensive and grip well, but there's tons of good tire choices out there depending on your budget. Just be advised that summer tires don't work well under about 40*F; you will definately want a set of snow tires for your steelies to swap in the winter time.

But with a good set of wheels/tires (this is by far the most important mod), sway bars (what's stock thickness? Does anyone make front sway bars for GA's?), strut tower bars, springs, and so on, you should be good to go. But seriously, go to autox's, pay for classes, whatever - driver training is by far the best mod.

the widest you can get on a 7.5 wide wheel is like a 235 tire(which I plan on going to later on).

And everything else mention,front and rear sway bars, front and rear STB(strut tower bar) and upgrade your bushings(sway bar,control arm,etc...)

and just search around for good sticky tires.

is i go with a rim thats 7.5 or 8.5 how much does that stick out from the car?

www.PFYC.com has front and rear sway bars for the GA.

Aaron, being that you have an SE, you have even smaller sway bars, then the GT...I'd go with the upgrade. :)

I had a question about that sticky:
Insofar as types of rims, they generally fall into 2 catagories: cast and forged. Cast aluminum is the most common, the plus side being that their cost will be lower than forged, but the downside is the weight of the rims. Forged aluminum rims are lightweight and very strong, but also very expensive. Choose well.

I'm not a metallurgist, but I was under the impression that forged wheels could be either very light or very strong. Say that a cast wheel of strength "10" and weight 20 lbs was replicated in forged aluminum. It'd either be strength "15" and weigh 20lbs or strength "10" and weigh 15 lbs (all these numbers are pulled out of my ass). But to have strength and light weight.. I'm not sure that's possible.

A good real life example are SSR Comps.. they are featherweights! But despite being forged, they bend easily, because they sacrifice strength for that light weight (SSR stands for Super Soft Rims after all ;)). Most Prodrive wheels are forged.. and they weigh a ton! But they're exceedingly durable wheels.. Some Volks are pretty light (there's a 15x7 one that weighs only 9 lbs!) and pretty strong (never seen one break).. but you need a mortgage to buy one.

And then there's wheel design.. Kosei K1 TS are 17x7 and weigh something like 14 lbs.. and are cast! I haven't read about anyone bending one, either...

It's confusing :( Strong, Light, or Cheap.. pick two. Damn.
