First, above all, I appreciate your time and any assistance greatly.

With that said, a "quick" history.

I had a SES code for awhile (P1404). I took off the EGR and replaced it. I went through the process to force an EGR position relearn and got the code cleared. Engine then ran fine and SES light stopped coming on.

A couple days later, I started feeling an occassional hesitation while driving. It's very quick, and you can only tell if you are driving. Knowing that I have 118K on my vehicle and with the original fuel filter, this was the first thing that I changed.

On the first test drive, it actually seemed worse and threw another SES code (P0300 - Multiple and/or random misfires).
That was yesterday. Today, I drove to work and back and it has settled back into hesitations on an occassional basis. One or two every minute of so that is noticable, on average.

I am extremely curious how I would just happen to start having a hesitation problem for the first time a couple days after changing the EGR. I am further curious on how I ended up with the SES light right after changing the fuel filter.

I know one option to change are the coil modules. As a quick self check, I verified the resistance across the spark plug towers on each coil was withing specification according to Haynes. (5-7 KOmhs I believe, mine were all around 6.5 KOhms).

I really would prefer not to spend $80 on three new coil modules, but would if that would fix the problem.

I just read online the following : "Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open."
I did not have the things needed to force a relearn on demand of the EGR, so I followed a procedure from another board. This procedure was, unplug the EGR, turn the car on and reset the code, turn off the car quickly before the light comes back on and then plug in the EGR again and it will do the re-learn. Is this true?
Could the new EGR be causing this problem?

Should I try a fuel injector cleaner first?

Are there other things that I should check?

I had the SES light reset tonight and still do not have another SES light on, even though I can feel it hesitating still today.

Thanks,
Chris
