Alright i hate to start a new thread but a search didnt go well i kinda want answers soon.
I just installed (2) 12' type r's dual 4. one is the 04 model one the 05. Along with that, a apline mrp-m350 and an mrp-m450. (2 mono blocks 350w rms + 400w rms). When i power just the larger amp and the larger sub it sounds great, but when i try to power them both together the bass seems to cut in half of what one sounds like. So basically when i run both amps and both subs im only gettin 1/4 of what i should. If i only run 1 amp and 1 sub i get full potential.
As far as the box setup, for the who saw the other thread, i did create a barrier diving the 2 ports.
Any ideas?

alright let me make it a lil easier ... i can run one amp and one sub at full potential but when i run both amps and both subs, i get less bass than just one sub. im lost!!!!

It sounds like you might have one of your subs wired incorrectly, and have the wires inverted. When that happens, there will be cancellation, and a lot of the sound will be gone. Sounds like what has happened to you. Check that your wires (pos and neg) are hooked up correctly for both subs. Try switching one set of wires around and see how that sounds.

The thing is that i can run each sub/amp seperatley and they are fine so aparently they are hooked up fine.

When you say seperately, do you mean each on its own amp? Or do you mean just one at a time? Because it will sound the same ( or close to the same) if you switch wires around on a single sub. But, if you have one sub pushing in one direction, and one pushing in the opposite direction, they will cancel out. Think of it like two people pushing on a door against each other. They dont get anywhere. But put both people on the same side of the door....
(yes i know, its a bad analogy)
Well...I see 2 different subs being powered at 2 different power levels. Theres one of your problems.
Check your wiring (along with the phase switches on the amps). If all is corect with that...your getting cancelation from using 2 diferent subs @ 2 different power levels. Even though they are both type-r's...they are different.

alright i got it ... the idiot who installed it (me) installed one of the subs out of phase and cancelled out the other. Work great now. Differnece in amp doesnt seem to screw things up that bad. Can i just turn down the gain on the larger amp to accommodate ?

Wouldnt hurt to try that and see how it sounds. Sometimes you have to experiment!

Don't take any offence to this but that sounds likea pretty ghetto set up. The Type R's are awesome subs ( I have 2 in my Grand Am) and their amps are excellent as well, but please either run only 1 sub or get 2 matching subs. I hate when people mix and match amps and subs and expect it to sound good.

its not easy to find the 04 model of the tpye-r. Nowhere in this thread did i say i was going for a competetive system. I intead to replace the 04 model with another 05 but i didnt have the money to start from scratch. Im using it just for now. Forgive me for not making the system in my car the priority of my life.
