Been a while since I've posted on the site.. finally back into some money since I'm back from school for the summer. I recently got my windows tinted (finally) so I'm starting to actually like the look for my exterior, my question is about what order to make my next upgrades in..

The three big projects I would like to do in the future are dropping (springs), rims and rear disc conversion.. any suggestions would be great, thanks in advance :)

If you are doing springs, I would HIGHLY suggest replacing the struts at the same time. Higher mileage struts simply do not hold up to a drop. And if your struts have never been replaced (beiing a 99), and you put drop springs on them, you'll probably have to go back and replace blown out struts within 3k miles or so.

Basically in summary, save yourself some work and cash by doing springs and struts at the same time. That will also prevent you from having to pay to get it aligned more than once:)

As far as rims, I'm not toally sure about offset and whatnot on the 99+ so I'll let someone with a 5th gen help there.

With the rear disc, you're just talking about doing the converiosn to rear GT disc right? I know a number of people have done that one. I know Kelly (99grandamse) did and posted a ton of pics and info about it, so search for a thread started by him around a year ago i think, and that should get you started there.

ALso, I see you live just up the highway from me :D

Getting new wheels and tires would be the first thing to do. You can literally make a minivan faster around a track than a Corvette if you give them appropriately good (and crappy) tires.

I think optimally, you'd go for 17x8's or so (+/- .5 inch) and put 225-245 width summer tires on them (I'm not sure what fits on a GA without rubbing). If you need a suggestion on which tire, let us know if you get a lot of rain, how long you need the tires to last, and what your budget is.

Foxy, he lives about 40 miles from me, so a good rain tire is definately needed around here. I run toyo proxes fz-4 and haven't had a problem personally. Whatever he gets would probably be a good summer tire, and it would definaltey not be advised to run any kind of summer tire outside of April-October. I'd just go with a good set of summer tires that aren't horrible in the rain, and keep a good set of tires on the stock wheels for winter-time.

thanks to both of you for replying, some good advice.. part of thereason I asked was because obviously wheel/tire package will be expensive and I wasn't sure if I should just wait until I could do wheel/tire/drop all at once or do one now and others later

cool to see a semi local member on here:lol:

EDIT: anybody happen to have a picture of a 99+ with lowerings springs on stock wheels?

which wheels? chrometechs? It doesn't hurt to do rims now and drop later, or vice-versa. Theres quite a number of cars with aftermarket rims and stock springs. I'm also sure theres some dropped cars with stock wheels.

Remember tire selection is KEY to overall performance. when you go to look for rims, esp if its an online wheel/tire package, pay extra attention to the tires you get with it. Some places include cheap tires that aren't very good, and some places will give you a wider variety of brands to choose from. If you are unsure of a brand, research them, search on here, and of nothing turns up just drop a quick post in here and see whos had experience with that tire.

For everyday driving around here, even with all this rain, I've never had a single problem with my toyos, and I'd reccommend them to anyone. But theres tires out there that are just as good.
