to reply to your PM (no use giving info out on PM's otherwise people searching wont come up with anything)
pretty much on a headunit there are three main wires. the always on (constant) 12v positive, usually yellow. the ground (usually black) and the accessory power wire which is i want to say red.
the accessory power wire is something you hook up that only receives 12v when the key is on turned on accessory or the car is running.
for testing purposes, hook up the accessory wire along with the yellow positive wire to the positive power source, and the ground to the negative.
the unit should power up, dont play anything with just these three wires hooked up, should spin the cd, go through the menu's etc... to let you know its working.
look at your manual to confirm which wire is +, -, and accessory +

Jumper settings:
The GM12-AUXv2 has in internal jumper (J2) that must be configured according to your application:
1. For radios with "BAND" button, jumper must be in "XM" position. (Uses "BAND" button to access AUX 1 or 2).. NOTE: Same audio source will play regardless of AUX1 or 2.
2. For radio without "BAND" button, jumper must be in "CHANGER" position. (Uses "CD/AUX" button to access changer mode or Auxiliary input)
looks like there is a jumper that has to be configured depending on vehicle tpe your installing the adapter into also.
