Hi,
I have a 99 Grand am SE 4 dr. It has power locks and trunk release.
Anyway, does anyone know if all I need is the receiver (GM part number 25692073) and a GM remote (25678792)?
Is there anything else I need to add it to my car?
Also, where does the receiver plug in?
Any help is appreciated. I want plug and play and factory if all possible.
Thanks,
James

you can add those parts, but then you would have to get it programmed at GM. It would be easier to just get them to do it.

I asked best buy about that last winter and I think they said it'll cost about $125-$150 when its all said and done with.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. I was hoping that is all I would need. I emailed a vendor on ebay that was selling a matched set for a 2000, but he didn't have a system for a 99.
I will try and find out how much the dealer wants to install it.

What year is your GA? Or are you talking about your Firebird??? Because that doesn't usually pertain to cars 99 and newer, though it might depending on your particular car.
The programming connector jumpering, with the RKE on the drivers side of the trunk is specifically for 96-98 GAs with factory RKE. It could be the same for your Firebird, I'm not sure; but if you're talking about another year GA, then it won't be there/that won't be how to program it.
Also, to the OP going to factory RKE if your car doesn't already have it is pretty much a waste of time/effort/resorces. You're much better off going with an aftermarket keyless (usually with alarm). It will be cheaper and better than the factory RKE.
