I wasn't sure which section to put this in but I have a unique situation. My car is an 03 with 45k miles on it. It was an ex-rental when I got it hence the high mileage. In the year I've had it I've only added about 4k miles and I don't expect that to change, so for now it's alow mileage per year car.

Now my question, with that amount of mileage when I have lowering springs from Eibach put on should I replace the struts or not? I know it's easiest to do it now, but if they'll last me years with my low mileage driving I'd just as soon wait. Also I have no idea how old the struts are but I assume they are factory and I have no clue as to how the car was treated, but again I assume it was taken care of judging from it's problem free year and nice apearance / handling.

I did a search and it gave a general consensus to replace if in doubt, but I'm not close enough to doubt to make up my mind.

For the extra $200 I would go ahead and install the new struts.

50,000 miles is about the recommended if your doing springs may as well do the struts it's no more work really.

:agree: follow the advice. if you keep your stock struts you will just end up replacing them in a few months anyways

I got a price quote from the local sears of 500 for the springs and install and 800 for springs and struts. Is this about right? She said the struts were close to 200 for parts, I wonder if I'm getting a break because it's really one job or not, that's much more than I expected.

that’s not a bad price, I paid 525 for parts plus 80 for an alignment for a total of 605 and had to do the work myself.
