I've searched the forums, and the internet, and couldn't find the answer to my questions.

I'm thinking about getting this alarm system for my car, because it seems to be one of the best you can get. With all the modifications I'm doing to my car I don't want to take chances on someone trying to steal it, or steal something in/on it. I'm also moving to an area I'm unsure of pretty soon.

Anyways, I noticed that this system has the remote start and defrost capabilities, which I love. I couldn't find anything to see if it had the abilities to pop the trunk and roll the windows down. Does anyone know about this? I know that a few, if not a lot, of you have this system on at least one of your rides.

I was also wondering about installation. About how much would it cost just for the install on one of these? I've never had keyless entry or alarm systems on my cars, so I'm not sure about this. I'm planning on buying the system online pretty soon, probably. I've found a couple sites where I could get it for around $160-$180 shipped. Or is it usually cheaper to buy the system and get it installed all at once.

Thanks for the help!

You can add modules for popping the trunk, roling up/down windows, locking.unlocking the doors, etc. It's fully expandable, the only limitation is your budget. :)

Many shops will not install a product you didn't buy from them, and AFAIK, the manufacturer's warranty is void on ebay transactions. If you purchase from a reputable shop your warranty on the alarm will be intact, and the install will be likely warranted as well. Call around for rates including install of tyhe options you want and make your decision from there.

However you can probably get it online for a lot less than you'll pay in a store.

It comes with the modules to unlock and lock the doors, though, right? That's one of the main things I'd like to have, instead of having 2 key fobs.

I think so, I just can't remember for certain.

Yes it should, I know autopage does. Should come with shock sensor also.

Extra moduals would be trunk popper, glass breakage, proximity sensor.

You really should get the glass breakage. What people are doing now since most have tint, is break the window, roll it in and just reach in and grab what they want without setting off the alarm.

This alarm is freaking awesome, it takes pictures of the person trying to get into the car, Even has night vision and sends the pic to your remote.

lol, I don't need anything quite like that, Chain. I will be getting the trunk popper, glass breakage, and proximity sensor at some point in time. Just really want some sort of alarm now because of increased theft in our neighborhood now, and because I'm unsure of the area we're moving to.

The shock sensor is what goes off when anything hits your car, right?

The 791XV comes with everything needed to have remote start, security (starter kill and shock sensor), keyless entry, and trunk release in your Grand Am. You will also need to pick up a GM Passlock bypass (DEI 555L is popular and works great).

Yes, shock sensor it what goes off if your vehicle is hit by something. :)

But no matter what alarm you get it will only be as good as the install.
Good installer = good trouble free alarm.

Lol, maybe if I were a bit closer to PA! :P

Mike (Mac00GT) is going to do the install for me. His specialty is electronics (though from the looks of his car it could be anything!)

mike worked on mine, hooked up my trunk popper for me and taught me a couple more lil things about it..... he'll do a hell of a job! also fixed some of the crappy shady stuff the original installer did.
