Don't know anything about the brand/company specifically, but they're 55W bulbs, better than the stock ones (27W i think?). Personally I'm going to install Hella Optilux Angel Eyes, and get some nice 100W or 130W bulbs....I drive a lot on very dark backroads with lots of deer...so it'll be helpful. Oh and btw, those say they are driving lights and not fogs...so if you want fogs, i'd opt for actual fog lights, fog lights project a different beam to not let the fog reflect as much light towards you.

Also to consider, according to DOT standards driving lights are for use with the high beams only, so you'd be breaking the law running them in traffic even though the 55 watt bulb isn't very bright. That's why our cars have fog lights even though they are clear, fogs are okay anytime.
Other than that those look nice and if they bolt right up, which it looks like they will, and use an H3 which I think some GAs used, then it will be nice.

can you really tell the difference between driving lights and fog lights when they are on the car? I mean, i know the packaging will say "driving lights" but when they are on a car, will the cops really know the difference?

Yes, it's blatantly obvious to oncomming traffic in many cases. If you see a bright light coming at you from far away and are blinded by it then it's driving lights. They shoot light out straight and it always spreads upwards where fog lights spread the light out around the car at a shorter distance and much less intensly focused. It depends on how strcitly it's enforced in your state as to if you want to try it, but personally I don't want to blind anyone and have them hit me.
In my opinion the fogs are more useful anyway. I have headlights to see distances and brights for even further. My factory fogs with a 50 watt bulb shine light out down and around the car which is where I want it. I can see road signs and animals much better now and it's invaluable for turning on dark intersections.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.

what "fogs" do u guys recommend then? that will bolt right up of course and still be round. dont want any small oval things sitting in there that is blatantly aftermarket

I haev Blazertech 2200's, from pfyc.com. I like them a lot.
On the Alero I used to drive, it came from the factory with projector foglights... Which I would have preferred to have, but I was thinking the same as you, some small lights would look funky in that huge hole.

i have the Hellz Optilux angel eyes from PFYC.com. i put a Cyber White bulb rpelacemtn and it was brighter then the silverstars in the headlights, they work great at night when there are no street lights

but are they a direct swap in my 97? the hella's

looks like my battery is starting to screw itself so i just bought a yellow top optima from 1st optima online for 160 shipped. d75/25 sizing. :)
i was looking at the hella angel eye ones, those are blue angel eyes, cant have them. would be impersonating a police officer to have blue lights visible in the front like that.
ill look around a little more on some different fogs and see what i can come up with.
how much better are the PIAA bulbs compared to the silverstars? i noticed the silver stars have that gay blue coating on them to try to imitate HID and the PIAA doesnt. ideas anyone?

Silverstars are okay, but I personally don't think they are worth the money. They have a slightly whiter color but the lifespan is greatly reduced and they aren't any brighter.

what are good bright white bulbs then? im not looking to do a full blown HID conversion, just something so i can actually notice my headlights are on in anything but pitch black, possibly being able to see the road would be good too :) lol
is PIAA good? anything better?

I have the silverstars and the Hella Optilux angel eyes with silverstars and they are great(really they have a hint of purple not blue). But I think if you have the money get the piaa since they cost more than silverstars and the blazertech fogs cause they spread out the light more.

do the blazertech fogs fit my 97 though. cuz the only people ive seen with them have been 99+

07-15-2006, 09:27 AM
I think they do. If you modify the bracket

I wouldn't get those e-bay foglights. We can't even see the manufacturer name.
Whatever you do, do not get Sylvania Silverstar foglight bulbs. A lot of people including myself have had them burn out really quick.
Bumpin1OHM

i never said anything about getting silverstars for fogs.
what do you suggest i get, since you already covered everything not to get?

Blazertech driving lights? Those are probably the cheapest, unless you want to spend a lot more on PIAA ones. You can probably buy Blazertech driving lights and put PIAA bulbs in there.

you wouldnt believe how hard it is to find good foglights for this car that can be on when the regular headlights are on. ive been searching here at work for like the past hour... so many options, so many different brands... my limit on fogs is $150
i want something that has a wide angle for driving to compliment my headlights. if it has an angel eye it MUST be white, im not trying to turn into a cop killer over some lights ;) (jk, or am i?)
come on guys, heeellppp
something that will go onto a 97 gase with little or no mods, $150 or less, wide angle to compliment headlights on regular setting, not high beam.

the Blazertechs can be used through the original fog light switch. all you do is connect the signal wire for the relay to one of the original foglight wires.

the H3 size Silverstars have had a problem, but you don't have sufficient evidence to say SilverStars in general have a greatly reduced lifespan. it seems like most people on here who have Silverstars like them. I have seen a lot more positive comments than negative (with exception of the H3 size).
I understand that you don't think they are worth the money, which I respect and think is valuable input because its your opinion. however, I would like to see correct info posted. unless you have owned a pair that have prematurely burned out, seen posts from people who have owned them and had a problem, or have sufficient test data to support your claims, please do not state a greatly reduced lifespan as fact.
also, I would like to add my own opinion. when I switched from stock bulbs to Silverstars, it made a noticeable difference in visibility. my girlfriend's dad also bought some for their Grand Am, and he commented on the difference as well.

after searching for hours, i see tons of mods for the blazertechs for everything except what i need. what exactly needs to be done for them to fit in a 97 gase, my mounts are different than your 99+
ive made a decision on actual bulbs for the headlights, not gonna do silverstars since they have the blue coating on them that negates performance, gonna go with the xtravision for low beams and standard silvania for the highs.

what I did to mount my blazer's was to drill a hole in the stock bracket, and bolted the aftermarket bracket to the stock one. the tricky part was drilling the hole in the right place so the fogs would be correctly aimed. this way, if I ever needed to switch back to the original fogs, my bracket won't be f*ed up. the housings sit a little farthur forward in the opening than stock, which I think looks good.
not sure if this helps, but thought I'd throw it out there.

nah doesnt help really as your mounts are still totally different from mine. looks like ill just have a shop do the installation.
but from looking around, in a perfect scenario, id like a light that is wide angle, looks black when not lit, if it has angel eyes they have to be white, and 4" round. i found some on this one website but they are out of stock on them, they seem like they would work perfectly though...

eh screw it ill just buy the hella optilux 2500's
if it doesnt work ill just throw more money at it till it does, i dont care anymore its not worth anymore of my time searching the web for it (just spent another solid 2 hours combing every fog i could find)

took a trip to autozone this morning, last night talking with a member on here (red98grandamse) got me thinking.
the ****ers at the body shop i took my car to for an estimate of repairs from when it was hit (~3k btw..) stole one of my ****ing turn signal bulbs on my headlight that had the back of it broken.
so i bought some of the silverstar 3057 bulbs to complete the look in the headlight, instead of having that amber bulb sitting in there, this will now be in its place...
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/1588/3057astbp3xsb9.jpg
kinda gives it a cleaner look. cant wait till everything comes in and i put it together and see if it looks as good as i think it will. black ebay lights + PIAA super white 9006 9005 + silverstar 3057
good sht...
