View Full Version : What happens when I'm REALLY bored

Since I was fed up with no aftermarket headlights for the 92-95 GAs I took things into my own hands and retrofitted a set of Hella 50mm halogen projectors into my headlights. (Mind the dirtiness.)

The progress of this project can be seen here: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=145070#145070
While they may not look as nice as the civic headlight swap they perform VERY well. Each projector puts down more useful light than both of my stock headlights put together. And since they use H7 bulbs they'll respond to HID quite well should I choose to splurge.

Not bad looking.
Any photos of the whole frontend?
Are they pointing the right way? In the first picture, it looks 'off' compared to the projector..
How blinding is it to oncoming traffic?

I've been wanting to do the same project forever now, I even have the Clear lenses but I was afraid the lights would take on water like that. Exactly what did you do?

I really like :)
Looks like the high beam is shifted a little

I'll try and get some more pics after the car is nice and clean. Glare to oncoming traffic should be minimal to non-existant with the low-beam projectors since they have a decently sharp cut-off. Everything looks a little skewed due to the design of the housings themselves. Even though they have a flat bottom they were designed to be tilted forwards and rotated slightly towards the side.
The optics I used were all weatherproof so I'm not too worried about water getting in there. I even left the headlight covers to be removeable for easy cleaning.

Lots of research was done at sites like faqlight.carpassion.info (faqlight.carpassion.info) and the hidplanet forum (http://www.hidplanet.com/forums). Made lots of measurements from my stock headlights to find out what would fit without too much trouble. I then bought the parts and started hacking away at a spare set of housings I got from ebay with a rotary tool (dremel).

Sorry about the long wait. I had my last wisdom tooth out last week and most of you know how that goes.

Everything has shifted just slightly enough to throw it all off.

What does that mean.....its not like I put stickers and overlays on my car like you did and add blue turn signals. Instead.....I am goin different and unique....its only in the first step but IMO, I will always see your car in my rear view mirror when it is compared to mine.

Damn man way to over react. I only ment the gaps you had from the fitment of the hood and the gaps on the head lights.. thats what I ment when I said it seems like its all shifted.

To each his own bud I think other on the board would differ. I'm not bashing your ride. If you wanted to get pissed about it.. you should have IM'd me to ask what I ment before flying off the handle.

Well the reason I got pissed was if you had somethin positive/negative to say.....I would appreciate the opinions in the thread I created and not in another member thread. (Trish was joking and commented on a post I made)
Sorry for hijacting your thread......but in the end your headlights are def a first :)
