I've been a fan of the grand am for awhile, and I recently sold my 94 sunbird to buy a 95 Grand Am. Now, I was looking for a standard 2-door car, but I got a good deal. For $1200 I got a 4-door SE with the 4-speed auto from my dad. 180 000 KMs, mint body. However, only power option included was door locks, and the A/C needs to be recharged.
Yesterday I was browsing through the auto trader and saw a 1996 Grand Am GT. 2-door, 5-speed, for $2300. I would much prefer that car, but I'm curious. This guy is saying it's a V6, but a few people have said that the manual transmission was only available in the 4-cylinder engines. I've checked some websites and they all say that these cars came with the 5-speed transmission and 4-cylinder engine out of the factory, and that the V6 was an option, however it doesn't specify whether or not the V6 was automatic-only or not. Really, I don't care, I'll take the transmission over the extra cylinders any day, but can someone confirm this with me?
Next, is this a good price for the car? The body's in mint shape inside and out, no rust, all power options (no sunroof though), and has very close the same KMs (only a couple thousand more than my current car), and the A/C is still in perfect running condition. The car is safetied and e-tested as well. I'm going to look at the car on Tuesday, and I'm just wondering if the price is worth what I'm looking at (assuming that the car is, in fact, in mint shape).
Also, what kind of price can I expect for my car? Everything still runs well, and I'll likely toss in my old head unit and JVC speakers from the sunbird just to get rid of them. Judging from the autotrader, alot of the same car go for anywhere from $1550 to $4500. I only need $2300 out of it, but should I expect a little more?
Thanks in advance.
