Hey guys, trying to do some research and make a decision to by this GA or not. Here are the specs:

Year: 2000
Engine: 4 cyl, 2.4 ltr, automatic
Miles: 94,500
Price: $3000

The car has electric everything. The owner is mechanically aware and believe he has taken good care of it the past 3 years (30,000? when he got it.) It seems in pretty good shape. My only concern is when stopped you feel a very light vibration of the engine in the steering wheel. He said it was like that since he got it. I'm going to try and have a mechanic look at it anyway.
I know it has high miles and all and I am looking to take it cross country soon. What are your guys' thoughts? Thanks

Mine does that too, and it did it since new. I'm not saying that's good, or normal. I'm just saying that mine does it too.
The 2.4 is well know for two things.

1)The water pump usually craps out around 100.000 miles. Make sure it has been replaced. Make sure he shows you some proof, as replacing it is more than expensive for a six year old car.

2) If I'm not mistaken, I've heard of the third bearing being a problem on the 2.4 Use the search feature at the top of the forum. Just type in "Third bearing."

That's about all the help I can offer. I won't say to buy it. I won't say not to buy. I will say this. Google is your friend. Do some research on the 2000 grand am, and the 2.4 liter Pontiac engine.

Good luck.
