After market 22mm sway bar.
Ground system.
Pioneer stereo.
Blaupunkt front speakers.
Alpine rear speakers.
Alpine sub woofer, custom box.
OZ racing rims with KUHMO (is that how you spell it?) tires.
SPARCO shift knob.
SPARCO peddles.
Fod lights.
WRX side skirts.
Window tint.
Rear carbon fiber winglet (not a big, stupid looking wing).
PDM Racing intake.
K&N air cleaner.
K&N oil filter.
After market fuel filter.

Some other things that I can't think of right now. :)

I race her SCCA and she does pretty well.

O.k., the question given to me several times was why join a board when you don't have the car featured on the board.

Well....o.k. I am going to be completely honest, please don't take this the wrong way. I HATE the Grand Ams and Grand Prixs, I think they handle like crap, move like dogs and look like shit. In my area I also see them around every corner. I have driven several and they are all the same, they lean like hell into turns, they shake and rattle, in my opinion they are junk. I can also beat stock ones left and right with my little tin can.

O.k., so, seriously don't take that personally, I am not attacking any of you. I decided that I would try and learn more about the cars that I hate so much and the people that love them and maybe come away with a better understanding of them. What better way to do that than join a car board dedicated to the very cars that I hate so much? I will not be rude to anyone on this board as far as to say that if I see something that they have done to their car that I think is stupid then I would mention it (like say a big ass wing or neon lights).

I hope to come away learning about the cars I hate and maybe meeting some new car guys. I live in the Syracuse are by the way if any of you are from around here.

GP's and GA's are very sporty lookin, how do you not like the way they look? Your subaru is anything but sporty or aggressive looking.

Yea GTPs are quick, power to weight ratio is not great though, and they handle like shit and their build quality is a joke.

I believe I gave a whole list of reasons why I hate them, go back and read my whole post.

Yes these cars are much better at straight-a-way racing. A GTP with a grand in performance mods (not even that much) at a light will kick ass and take names. They are not a vehicle to take lightly at a red light or at a quarter mile track.

I found that your car runs 16.0-16.5.
Do you know that grand am GT's and Grand Prix GT's stock run 15.0-15.5? Some have broken into 14's stock.
Do you know that GTP's stock run 14.5 -15.0? Some have gotten low low 14's stock.

If a car is quick, it must not have a bad power to weight ratio thats just common sense, I'll give you the handling like shit part, my GTP is a PIG, but then again, i bought it for what the car is intended for, a DAILY DRIVER, which for that aspect, it handles good enough, if i wanna go cornor carving, ill fire my toy up and go find some twisties to play on. but the GTP rides smooth compared to my toy, so im more than happy to give that up, especially if im going on a long trip. Build Quality? hmm, do i really need to show you the three GP's i personally know of that have over 300k miles on teh original motor and tranny? The only complaint i have about the int of my GTP is the center console creaks a bit if i put pressure on the lid the wrong way, but once again, not every car is perfect, I'm sure if i drove my coworkers WRX, i could come up with complaints about the car.

I wouldn't throw out a blanket Pontiacs handle bad statement. The cars do what they were designed to do, which is a compromise so they can be daily driven. Our cars have slightly stiffer suspensions than some but not to a performance level because that isn't what people buy them for. It's also worth noting that our cars are set up for drastic understeer because it's a safty issue. Understeer may cause you to bump a wall but oversteer is fatal.

The end user however can easily have their car adjusted to reduce the understeer and lowered with a set of performance springs, if that's what they want.

Good question, stock it runs high 15s but my car is not stock. It is broken in and I keep her running and tuned perfecly.

Before the WRX was introduced my model was the fast Subie, it is light, handles real well, and I have the right mix of WRX parts on it. :)

It is my humble opinion that a car should be well rounded to be considered "good". Of course it all depends on what you are planning on doing with the car. If you want to build a drag car you build a drag car. I am going on the assumption that most of us drive our cars around and don't trailer them to the drag strip.

just like the GA/GP is not a Ralley car, so your statment of the car handling horrible is kind of taken out of context since that is not what the car was built for. Thats the point im trying to get across different cars are built for different purpouses, to be better at one thing, generally comprimises are made to other things, unless you want to spend a ton of money, but then again, the GA/GP arn't all that expensive so i don't think you can really complain about what you get for the money.

What go fast mods do you have done? These cars can be made to handle somewhat decently with some sway bars and tower bars. I bet even better than a suby. I actually appreciate you being here though. These cars can be decent just need the right stuff. Hope ya stick around.

Well, last night on this board I found a guy who put a ram air hood scoop on his car and the holes are filled. The hood does not work at all it is just for show. That is rice is it not? Or are you a racist and call all Jap products "rice" I am curious?

Someone mentioned that with a few mods a Grand Am can be made to handle well. I have been racing SCCA for more than ten years and have never, ever seen a Grand Am or Grand Prix racing. Why not? Because for track racing those cars are not that fast period.

And the guy who posted the drag car and laughed at me? That is just childish and pathetic.

I was honest as to why I signed up for this board. A majority of the comments I have recieved so far have been infantile and pathetic. Doesn't show that much about this board and you people at all.

Is a non-functional hood rice???? I would have to say no. If you are truly 43 you'd remember the old muscle cars such as the GTO , Road Runners and Chevelles that all had non-functional hoods. Th GA SC/T comes with a non-functional hood straight from the factory.

That said, don't be surprised by less than complimentary comments after a post like this.....

Welcome,sorry your first impression of the board wasn't great but on the note of not owning a Grand Am and saying negative stuff won't get you far,but it would be the same if one of us went to a Subie board and said that Subie's are horrible at this and that.

Don't be taken back,most of us here are nice and great people. In fact, I love Subaru's,great cars,deifnately can be underrated sometimes.

Theres another WRX owner here,Foxy,they have an STi though.

Just hope your outlook changes on the Grand Am GP's because they are cars you don't wanna under estimate anymore these days,some are putting out some power,might not be over 300hp but for their weight they don't need a whole lot hp to be quick.

Any car can be made fast even a three cyl. GEO can be made to go fast.

And as far as getting flamed for posting that you did not like Subarus on a Subie board I would say it would depend on where you post it. If you made that post in the Off Topic area then yea that would happen. But at NASIOC (the largest Subie board) they don't stand for any crap in the other areas so you could make any opinion you want.

There are of course douchebags on any board.

If you are talking stock vs stock then how the hell can you compare your impreza to GA or a GTP? Both cars would rape you in stock form, corners or no corners
