Ive been on firebird forums forever but finally found this one in search of a grand am, nice site you guys have here, I am looking into this grand am and looked through this forum already but i was wondering is there anything i should look out for besides the usual car stuff in a 1999 grand am gt? common issues etc? also hows this price sound for this car? heres the link. Any input would be appreciated, thanks

Just watch out for the infamous LIM problems...

Ask about the LIM leak. If that has been fixed with the revised gasket then that seems to be a decent GA from what i can see. I would offer $4200 at most though.

is the LIM leak really that serious, Ive been reading up and all 3xoo motors do it, i know for sure my firebird has a oil leak, it will leave a small puddle overnight, however i can go through til a oil change and not have low oil, is the grand am issue the same? or by not fixing it is there major issues?

ok I guess it has a new engine with 50000 out of a 2000 GA, should this effect value?

Yes, the coolant and oil often mix as a result.

This issue is huge can cause the car to overheat warp heads or worse and just generally piss you off. the LIM repair alone will can cost $650+ if there are any other problems associated it will be more. And it is not a quick fix! Check on this before you buy anything!
