The "Change Oil" light appeared on my dash about a month ago. I was approaching 3k since the last change, so when I got it changed this weekend I was hoping it would magically disappear, no such luck. Any ideas?

1. Read the manual ;)
2. Turn key to on, dont' start
3. Open the drivers side fuse box (side of the dash)
4. Press the reset button. "change Oil" will start flashing.
5. Press and hold Reset until it goes off.

done. :)

If your oil change like came on a 3k miles then it isn't being reset by the people doing the oil change. It's a common myth that the light can only be reset when it's on, that is not true, it must be reset with each oil change if you want to go by it.

Also our cars are designed to go much longer than 3k miles. There's no harm in changing it that often except to your wallet perhaps. Depending on driving conditions you may get up to 10k miles between oil changes, but I wouldn't push it that far. Personally I change my oil yearly, which is about 6000 miles and the oil still looks good. I do mostly 45 miles an hour straight shots in overdrive though, so life will vary for others.
