Ok so my car is overheating to the point where it starts to stutter. she's got 146,xxx miles on the stock quad 4. I replaced the heater core. and had a shop replace the water pump (for a $100 what a deal). I have not changed the thermo yet but there's no coolant leaking anywhere but I am always adding coolant. should I even check the oil out? The fan is working good to my knowledge (my wife drives the car). I am going to replace the thermo cause after it sits for about 5 min the temp goes back down to normal and then shoots up. I know the basics and am just trying to get more info/help/suggestions on what to do.

This has been a great car and would like to keep it. The only thing I have replaced was waterpump, heater core, tires and breaks with the 10,000 miles I put on it. She has been wrecked into a hillside and a gaurdrail (no damage just paint scrape) and it's got a 5 speed. any help to save her would be appreciated.

Pull the oil dip stick. Look at the oil on the bottom of the stick. If it looks like a milkshake, you have found where the eater is going.

The stat would be my next guess as the heating problem. When you start the car it is closed, as the water heats it open the stat. Normally takes 3 to 7 minutes for a stat to open.

Have you felt the raditor hoses when the car is up to temp. If the top one is staying cold....the stat is the probelm.

well not in the oil and not coming out the exhaust but I tried the hose and both the top hose and bottom hose are cold. The car went about 1000 feet and was almost in the red. where would I look to change the thermostat at? I did search and nothing was helpfull.

well replaced the coolant and took it for a drive and it puked all into the floor of the car. I just replaced the heatercore last year and it's gone again?
