Where's that rattle coming from?

I have had a rattle that has been driving me nuts. It seems to be coming from under the center part of the dash. It's more noticeable when I'm driving a constant speed. When I'm accelerating, even just barely accelerating, I hardly ever notice it.

My brother-in-law checked to see if it was a heat shield, but didn't notice any that were loose. Could there be something in the center console that could cause the rattle? Or is it probably a heat shield and he just didn't find the right one?

I've heard issues of piston slap problems with these cars, what would that sound like? I'm really really hoping it's not that.

piston slap doesn't really sound like a rattle. maybe some loose change is stuck somewhere??

LOL... yeah, something like loose change crossed my mind. Unfortunately, it's not that kind of rattle. It sounds like a heat shield. I guess I'll have to get under there and take a look. I just wish I had a lift so it'd be easier. :-)
