new SS pics

here's a few pics i took today of it. got the windows tinted this morning. the billet bowtie has been in for about 2 weeks now and i took the yellow bowtie off the back and made it solid chrome. they didn't turn out quite as well as i had anticipated, but the camera was going dead so i couldn't check the end results.

the flash made the foglights look like they're on, but they're not. shows the tinted windshield in the sunlight..........well kinda:lol:

i thought this would be a decent shot, but it makes the truck look almost black

this is my favorite shot of the ones i took. again, thought it would have came out better than it did, but it came out a perfect fit for my new wallpaper. guess im gonna have to work on my photo-grapher skills :D. i've got a subject that doesn't complain how many pics i take of her........in fact she enjoys the attention :P

here's a closer pic of the tint. i just tinted the front 2 to match the factory and the windshield. the front 2 are 15% and the windshield is 50%. it's really light compared to what im used to. but i thought i'll leave it like it is for a little bit and see how i like it. but im gonna make it darker, not by a whole lot, but still darker

rayz, actually it's a SUV, not a TRUCK. and it's a SS SUV......so technically im right :D if you'll pay particularly close attention to the 4th picture there are two letters on the lower right hand side of the hatch.... :lol:

gas mileage is more like "small bank loan" and "tag-a-long tanker trailer" :lol: seriously it's about 16-18 in town and about 20 on the highway. if im driving divide those numbers in half :D

congrats on the SS. is it legal to have that much tint in arrrr-kansas?

legal? no. but will i get by with it? yes

i dont think it's that dark. im just used to so much darker i guess. im debating on getting another light layer (about 30%) put behind all the existing (minus windshield) and calling it good. that should get it about right and it will have a killer new look to. tint im going to put behind it is a metalized black film. dont know how to describe the appearance, but it looks good

Look awesome Matt. I personally think the bowties make it look alot less tackey. Everything is one color now.

Not sure how much you paid for them but usually they run about $25 for each.

To the untrained eye they might not know it was modified. But IMO, it was money well spent.

BTW, what plate did you end up getting?

the back bowtie was free.........just took that ugly yellow thing off and got some goo-gone after the glue it left behind. front bowtie i got for $35

haven't decided on plates yet. told emily i was going to get her IMABICH, :roflmfao: she just looked at me. i thought i had to order them when i went to get tags and they said i'd have to get regular tags and then order the new ones. i just went and gave them my $2,000 last week for tags. i hated writing that check lol. but got them narrowed down to:

AWDSS
SUVETTE
HEMIKLR
1BADSS

there's a couple more i've got wrote down that i really like, but i dont remember them off the top of my head.




counting my pennies right now for a tune and cai. dyno proven to give 40+/- whp. i think the lowest the guy has tested was like 33 at the wheels. that's quite a bit out of a tune and cai. like 80% of all the SS owners are using this guy and like him, so he must do something right. gonna run me about $700 after the shipping and handling and everything :( and headers are running around $1G right now :( :( lol.

tim, his screen name is norcalss on a couple other boards. pretty knowledgeable about the ss. he painted those calipers and rotors. im gonna paint my calipers blue and put white SS emblems on them too. just haven't gotten around to it yet.

side note, do you have to run premium?

i dont know. vector motorsports out of MI seems to be ruling the roost as far as tunes go. totally blowing the handhelds (superchips, diablo, hypertech, etc) out of the water. wester's is a good competitor, as is ADM.

some people are claiming they dont use premium. but that's all i use in it......as do MOST of the owners. it's got a 10.9:1 compression.........way to high IMO to be running anything less than 91 (i use 93).
