Is it normal for my gas thing to pop open after I fill it? I have seen a couple grand ams that are open as well.

gas thing....very discriptive
are you talking about the gas door? If so, I'm gonna say no...it's shouldn't be popping open. :)

That's very common on the 92-95's when they age.
Watch the latch of the gas door and have someone else pull and release the cable... the little "button" should move in/out freely. WD-40 may help for some that stick. If the "button" isn't sticking at all but the door doesn't stay latched, bend the bar on the door outwards slighty.

That's what both of mine have done. Try bending the latch bar inward slightly. If not... then you're in the same boat as me. Which means opening the trunk and yanking on the cable to release the door, if you're not in Jersey where the gas attendants can pull it open while you're holding the release lever.

It used to work( just quit a week ago ) there's
gota be a spring in there somewhere that pops the door
open when the relese is pulled..
i'll have to open the S/M then see what it shows

Yeah I meant gas door. Once I get it shut and go over some bumps and it stays shut...it stays shut until I pump gas again. It is annoying though because I am tired of people beeping at me to shut it while I am driving it along. I think my problem is that the gas door isn't catching on the little latch.

Second post for me, but anyways. There is sometimes a spring there where the door hinges at that will pop out the door.On most gas doors, there isn't a spring near the latch mechanisom(SP?) but in the hinge itself. Have a look at it, it may be tweaked, missing or just not lining up anymore.
