Ok, I'll try and make a long story short. Basically what happend was my car started to shift gears really hard. Also when I shifted from park to drive the car would clunk into gear. The tranny wasn't slipping and the engine was running fine, but the SES light came on. Skipping ahead the dealership wanted to change the manifold air temp sensor, mass air flow, and repair a wire at the IAT harness. Here's what I don't understand, they blamed the
K &N filter for messing up the mass air flow sensor. Can this happen? I've never heard of anyone on this site having this type of problem. At least the extended warranty paid to have those things changed. Sorry that was so long.

K&N air filters themselves cant mess up the MAF sensor. Its the oil you spray on them that can sometimes coat the sensor and mess up the readings.

If you use too much oil on your air filter it will coat your MAF sensor.

You should be able to clean your MAF sensor, you dont HAVE to replace it, assuming it is in fact coated with oil.
