Well,
I bought my first GA 2 months ago...engine blows 3 days later, rod bearing breaks and a horrible knocking sound, sever loss of power, you know how it goes. I finally just got it back with a swapped engine that has 62k miles on it. First thing I noticed about the engine is it has a clicking or ticking sound...it reminds me to closely of the knocking of my old engine, but everything is fine? No power loss, no chugging...starts fine (gotta hold the key for about 1 second, no biggie i think), notta. I know the heads on the push rods make a click sound when opening/closing // going up and down...are some engines just louder than others or did i get screwed?

Does this only happen when cold? If so, it likely has piston slap, which many GM V6's have.

Actually it is MORE noticable when I first start it...but later on after driving for a little bit its somewhat...quieter, but you can still hear it. Also, if this helps, once I start going, maybe after 1.5k ~ 2kRPM you cant hear it anymore...I think its just the heads clicking.
