Engine coolant light

Now that I think about it i was a little bit hectic so i didnt think. I went to check the oil and it was at full so it wasnt the oil it was the engine coolant light that came on and yes my radiator fan isnt working so that might be the reason it did come on. But I still have a question how come the car would cut off when i put it into drive with this light cutting on. Also the coolant was just replaced and its still at the full line when the car is off. The thermostat was replaced to but everything was working fine the engine stayed inbetween 200-220 degrees the whole ride/

air could be struck where the senson is placed. And sometime, when flushing coolant out from the bowl,the coolant level sensor could jam in the low position. knock on it with a handle of a screwdriver gently ans check out the light!!
