1994 Grand Am Engine Question

Hello, I have a friend that has a 94 Grand Am that has a dead 3.1 v6engine. I have a spare 3100 sitting in my garage from a car that I tore apart, but I am not sure if it will work in his car. The engine I have was pulled from a 1992 Beretta. I haven't looked at his engine to see if they look the same or not yet. When did they change from the II gen to the III gen 3100 in the Grand Am? Thanks!

The 92 3.1L you have is way different from the "3100" V6 found in the 94 Grand Am. 94 was the first year the 3100 SFI was available, and the first year Grand Am's had a 60 degree V6 offered.
