I searched for the answer to my question and couldn't find it so......

I wanted to know if the black thing inside the 99+ headlights where the main bulb goes can be removed to increase light output.

I just took my lights apart and sanded and buffed the lenses and thought I might remove those pieces while i have them out. They always seemed pointless because the 9007 bulbs have black tips and the light comes out the sides. If those pieces were out, one would assume that more light would reflect forward.

Can anyone verify this/ has anyone removed this part?

I think someone did remove it and it actually hurt the light output, IIRC...

it will either decress light output or put the light out across a more broad area which could be blinding to other drivers. I had a buddy that did that to his 99+ and he said his light output was the same but seemed to go across the 4 lane highway, just the low beam bulb

u mean the black ring? if thats what your talking about then dont do it!! its more blinding then bright lights, i accidently broke mine and drove around like that for like 3 weeks and people were flipping me off and slammed on their breaks alot too cuase its blinding to other drivers no matter what side of the road they are on. DO NOT DO IT.

Thanks for the information. That's why I like having such a large pool of information from which to draw on this forum. I'll leave them in. I guess I'll just have to buff the lights a little more to make up for it;)

I think I remember someone saying they tried to take theirs out, and they accidentally pushed it into the housing... They said it took them like 2 hours to fish it out :P

I've thought about doing this before, but you really don't notice them unless you're looking directly at them.
