Finally got some pictures of my Axis TC Evo 19s. The red rings on them are detachable and paintable, so if I were to curb one of them I could just put on a new ring. I also got a NOS kit and had the bottle painted to match the car. It came with a bottle heater, billet bracket, twin purge, dump lines, and my remote bottle opener is going on this week. I put thick black aluminum grills in the kit and had the center of my c/f hood painted and put a black vinyl roll call on it just to break it up some. I also installed my Xbox 360 in the car and did a few more things you might notice.

Hopefully I'll be able to be on the forums more since I'm done with shows for the year and don't plan on anything new until winter.

ok honestly, its not something i would of done, but i can tell you took your time getting it done correctly and not cutting corners and you had a plan to what you wanted done with it and stuck to it.... so it looks good... just not something id done. *if that makes any since*

I don't like stickers either but it breaks up the hood and I needed to put a few sponsor decals on the car.

08-07-2006, 11:43 AM
Not bad Wes...I would put some red reflective stickers on the hood rather than black. They might be a little more discreet but will still have the sponsers names.

Definitely do something with that motor. I think that's the only thing holding you back. A newer 3100 plenum would look sweet all painted up. Spend the cash to get one and have it swapped on! That will be worth it for sure!

Looks great as always, but I think those rims are a major downgrade from your old ones for sure.. Those chrome ones you had(in your sig)/cardomain, are the sickest rims I've seen on a GA, and the new ones are somewhat dull in comparison, IMO. Still an absolutely insane car, done very well!

hey, where can you get those wheel rings? I have curb rash on a couple of my rims (not my fault) and just adding rings (maybe a diff color than the rim) would 1) hide the rash, 2) add a little to my car, 3) let me be cheap and not have to replace my wifes rims........ if anyone doesn't make a "universal ring" - there's an idea you could bank on. I'd do it but I already got too much crap going on.

Those wheels look sick. Looks alot better then the old chrome ones. Now that there are black headlights for our year, you going to change, or still keep the civic ones?

The only thing i would change on the outside are the chrome hood pins, maybe paint them, or replace them with black or CF ones.

X2 DO IT!!!! I'm sure it can't be that hard. OR, paint to match the rest of the interior, red + black :hitit:

Only thing I would of done differently would of been to put the sponser logos on first, then paint and take them off. That would of looked hot with them in CF.

yea i'm not going for as flashy as an interior as your car. just a subtle black/silver look. kinda classy kinda sleek type. dunno if that explains it.

it's flashy for a reason. because it's a show car. and what do show cars do? grab people's attention.

and this car is in no way rice. it looks professional. therefor it is a tuner car. even if the only thing in his engine that's not stock is the battery and the intake. people need to learn the difference between rice and tune. stupid fast n the furios has blinded too many people to what rice really is.

edit: by the way on the aftermarker shifter.. where did you put the ets button? and how hard was it to do it? cuz i'm looking into a straight shaft one like yours with a button on top.

I.M.O. show vehicles have gone the way of being more of a cleaner install than tons of stuff. the local car shows i go to have shifted thusly. nobody likes a trailer queen

there is a 2000 eclipse the always shows and he has like 20 some monitors, air ride, custom interior, 9-color paint job, 20's, so on... there is a cougar that is done the same way. anyways last year these guys were winning 5 trophies each at like every show they attended. the eclipse got best mitsu at hot import nights in chicago. this year they have won hardly anything, and whats winning is like very clean civics with jdm parts, cars with very subtle mods and a set of rims that fit the style well. I like the look way better.

FlatlineGA
10-10-2006, 06:51 PM
Saying you don't like the nitrous and that the interior is flashy isn't really constructive. Constructive would be like me saying you need to extend the top of box in your trunk to cover up the factory carpet.

98_gee-tee
10-10-2006, 07:40 PM
i was tring to be constructive, i would have mounted the nitrous differently, and i wouldn't have painted every piece that i could have popped out of the dash. I did paint my interior door handles, but they match the graphics, and i sanded them smooth and filled in the line thats in it ( i think you probably know the one i mean). theres nothing wrong with it, i just think its overboard. i used to think it was cool but i,ve grown out of that phase ( thats why there is almost no blue left on my car if you can remember. i'm not trying to be a jerk it's just what i don't like.

on another note. we tried making the sides higher, it just looked funny being higher than the sub box, so we cut it down to the same height and it looked better not too bad for a first attempt i think . its all removable too, comes out in 5 minutes. over winter i'm going to pull it out and re cover the carpet black so it looks better. thats the story on that

yep, me too...I think this is a classic case of WAY over riced domestic car. The touches you've done definitely show some patience, creativity and effort...I'll grant you that....

but the style today is getting a LOT more subdued...the exterior pieces are right in line...but that interior REALLY is over done man. Way too much red paint and "trinkety" things that look like you raided the automotive department at Wally World. The headlights are a very good example - you were dying for something "custom" as the expense of fit and finish (in this case GREAT expense...they don't fit for shit bro...)

I think the custom scene is going back to something a LOT more subtle...custom molded interior panels, subtle finishes like matching Alcantara or flock, and streamlined audio/video systems.....

Just my 0.02...no disrespect intended...its just not my cup of tea...and I see that you've been pretty pissy with others who do not like the car... so I ask - why post pics (lots of pics) of a car to show it off and get peoples thoughts if you only wanted to hear the "good stuff"???

You all keep telling me the style is more clean and subdued now, but I'm not oblivious to the aftermarket industry. I've been to 14 shows this year and I get 6 car magazines each month, it's not like you're telling me anything I don't know.

I don't know what you mean by trinkety things since just about everything in the interior except the paint cost much more than what people regularly spend. It make look rice or overdone to you, but that interior was winning me trophies before I even had a body kit.

I'm waiting for my new seats, steering wheel, headlights and gauges to arrive and I'm about to send half of my interior off to be wrapped in carbon fiber. Just because the style is changing doesn't mean I can take a show car and completely change my theme overnight. I work part time and I do stuff when I can, so I don't mind constructive critism, but realize I already know 95% of what you're saying.

Also, why did I post pics to get to get other peoples opinions? I didn't. I posted pics because a lot of people asked me to, not because I want the advice.

nopes - I like criticism....when its clearly designed to mock someone, its a different story ;) Like I said previously, it is impossible to please everyone all the time (who coined that phrase anyway?) :)

In the end (i've also said this) its what makes the person happy. When you're building a car, you should build it to what YOU like, not what you think others might like...thats the interesting thing about taste! Not everything I like you will, and vice versa...boy what a world we'd live in if everybody thought ricing a 92-95 civic hatch were the bomb :)

Wes wins trophies plain and simple. People who win shows obvisouly do things that judges like to see, other wise people don't win. I have not seen things change much in shows these days. The cars that have money into them win. The more $$$ and the stuff put in the right places will get judges attention therefore you win.

Im not going for a show car status but I know a good show car when I see one. Wes' may look overdone to some,oh well, but thats what wins trophies. Not to mention Grand Am's really still aren't high up on the charts so therefore to see a Grand Am like Wes' done to what his is definately gets attention.

Im not kissin butt here but definately backing a friend up. And trust me,Wes is one to not give a crap what others think. For the most part when someone who doesn't have the same amount of work done to their car and isn't going for show they aren't going to like it,so they should either just plain say I don't like it or don't say anything, like the old saying, nothing nice to say, don't say it at all. Unless he asked for critosism as in what he should do next then people shouldn't be disrespecting the work unless they know what it takes to make a show car.

just giving respect where its due. Car has gone from stock,I remember it back in the day, lol. To a car that has definately been popping up at shows and getting awards for the hard work.

Domestic Rice???? Don't think so,sorry, but hey if "rice" wins shows then I guess thats what judges look for then.

As long as I don't have blue graphics and a big metal spoiler with a neon shift knob and a can muffler, I think I'm stayin above the bar.

Great lookin car wes, just keeps getting better everytime... as for the "rice" if you are going to call every interior mod ricing well then you can keep your stock interior and have your car the same as 50,000 other grand am owners ... if your building a show car wes's is a prime example. the only thing that kinda turned me a way was the nitrous bottle inthe trunk but once again its there for a reason so more power to ya!

Way too much red paint and "trinkety" things that look like you raided the automotive department at Wally World. The headlights are a very good example - you were dying for something "custom" as the expense of fit and finish (in this case GREAT expense...they don't fit for shit bro...)

Just my 0.02...no disrespect intended...its just not my cup of tea...and I see that you've been pretty pissy with others who do not like the car... so I ask - why post pics (lots of pics) of a car to show it off and get peoples thoughts if you only wanted to hear the "good stuff"???

:funny:
This coming from a guy who calls himself "bmoney". Sounds like something a pubescent 16 yearold with baggy pants and a crooked cap calls himself. You know, no disrespct or anything.

I don't see him getting all that pissy at all, in fact thoughout the name calling and low key attacks I think he's kept his composure.

I mean we all can't be as obvious as some people. It's amazing how one can point out that those lights don't fit so well. Well welcome to last year, because they aren't Grand Am lights and never were intended to be used on a Grand Am. However being creative enough to use headlights from another make and model is what helps set it apart.

You know what's great, is that all of you are so worked up about it, but the best thing is you simply can not stop talking about it. I'm sure not even a faction of hoopla is ever close to being stirred up over your car or the one a few parking spots down at the mall that looks just like it.

You boys are about 5 years too late with the 'rice term' and far from knowing what it is. Rice is stick on hood scoops, screw on exhaust tips, fart cans on 90hp cars, only body modification consisting of a aluminum spoiler and decals. Those are prime examples of 'rice'. Just because its not to your or because it's much more flashy than you'd build doesn't mean it's 'rice'.

A FYI for you guys, I'm sure you all have heard of a Plymouth Superbird or Dodge Daytona right? Big tall wings, pointed frontends built for homolagation for NASCAR? Well those were laughed at back then on the streets and mocked due to their radical race inspired styling. Now look at them today.

I bet I could take my '84 Buick Grand National, 1 of 2000 built, park it next to Wes car at any given carshow and his would turn 10 times as many heads. In the end, it gets attention.

I just can't wait until the body work is completed on my truck so I can post it up here to see what all you know it all's have to say.

That's my $.02 and you can take it to the bank.

I think the custom scene is going back to something a LOT more subtle...custom molded interior panels, subtle finishes like matching Alcantara or flock, and streamlined audio/video systems.....

x3

I just feel that note worthy car shows would not even take your entry seriously. I would be far more impressed with a $8,000 paint job and proper body work. than jaming as much electronics or pieces from retail stores as possible, regardless of price.

I guess you just wanna "pimp your ride"

please don't :( because of my opinion.
after all it's the opinion of a stranger.

oh yeah, I don't think it has RICE I think it has pepboys.

sorry if I took it too far with that one.
