My brother has and extra set of rims in the the garage. They are 8 or 8.5 inches wide. I wanted to put a 245 tire on the front. Just wondering if that would fit or not and I am not going to be running it all the time I am just going to leave them in the garage, but when I head to the track throw them in the trunk and when I get there swap them out. They will have Nitto 555R drag radials on them.

Yes 8 or 8.5 wide rims will fit w/245 tires in the front IF
1. the rims have the correct offset of +42mm
2. the center bore is at least 71mm
3. the bolt hole pattern is 5x115
You don't say what diameter the rims are but I'm guessing 17 or 18 with that width. You also don't mention the sidewall height of the tire, 245x35's will fit on an 8.5x18 wheel with plenty of clearance.
If you ever do the back you will need a 4-6mm spacer to clear the strut sufficiently (w/o is 1mm clearance, yikes!)
If you

It is on a 16 inch rim and the sidewall is 40 I believe. I have the rims without the tires on them sittin in the garage and I took my rim and tire of and just set the on their and it fit fine just didn't know if it would fit with the tire mounted.

Well if it is a 16" rim then there should be no fitment issues although I think 245 is a bit wide for a 16', which is normally either 7x16 or 7.5x16.
Since you've got it all sitting there just get one tire mounted on the rim and test fit it then you're only out a couple $.

It is on a 16" rim. My brother bought them and took the nitto drag radials off of them and just set the rims in the garage. He told me I could have em if they would fit. I went and got one rim and tire mounted and it was only 9 bucks.
