Hey guys.... Just finished putting the '99 3100 into my '95 yesterday! It runs GREAT! The swap went pretty well, had to change a few things and had a few problems, all of these problems being self caused... like forgetting to put the belt on before the motor mount! But, overall, it went very well. All that is left to do is make an adapter plate for the '95 EGR to fit on the '99 upper intake manifold, they changed the mounting surface. So I'm running without the EGR right now, it does set a SES light every once in a while. Put about 120 miles on the motor, runs good being it only has 25K. Still not sure how much "go" it has, will wait a while to find out. Pictures tomororw maybe, I just got it all cleaned up :D

Thats great news, I was thinking about doing an engine swap myself but I will start a new thread for that. Exactly how hard was it, did the tranny match up, what else had to be changed, any input would be great... Thanks

Good to hear! Are you gonna make that adapter plate yourself, or have someone else do it? I'm gonna have that issue too, when I get around to swapping my top-end w/ 2000 3100 parts.

Cuz 95s are teh win ;) Its also pretty sweet since we weigh like 300-400lbs less than 99+

Yeah, lots of people with 95 's are doing swaps and upper end upgrades. Kinda funny it's all happening right now!
John... I'm going to 'attempt' at making one of those plates in the next few weeks. The "SES" light isn't a big deal, just bothers me. I'll let you know how it turns out! I wish there was a way to rewire everything to get the newer EGR to work...

Here are a few pictures... I just took them, so it was dark outside, but they turned out ok. Still not quite done with the upper intake manifold, but it looks pretty good! :D

Looks CLEAN, but is that the old UIM you are using? I thought the newer 3100s have the same type of lettering like the 3400?

In 2000, they went to the bigger size, but his is a '99 engine (tisk, tisk...j/k!). Dallas, if it wasn't for the painted upper intake, our engine bays would practically be twins (not for long though; knock on wood)! LOL

Yeah.... '99 had the same UIM.
John...I imagine my old motor probably looked identical to yours, it was pretty well stock looking with red painted 3100 on the UIM. And of course it was clean, even with 150K it looked brand new! :D
I think we're all both browsing GAowners and 60 Degree! lol :D
Anyways...gotta get going, early morning ahead! Have to take the GA on a small road trip to enroll for college.....

I can't tell the difference between that and my 3100. How much more power and torque? It is very clean though.:agree:

Hey it makes sense for us to do it. They bigger bore always means more platform for The BOOST or other engine mods. :D
