I need a word removed from the banned word filter. My email and homepage is mk-iker without the - in it. It's a banned word for some reason. There's no way for me to change my homepage because it's a free account. Right now I can't even put up a signature picture because it blocks the word in the image tags even.

That word contains a racial slur (starts with first k, ends with e)... which almost every predefined block list will include.

I dont even think that word is offensive to anyone anymore.. I dont even think most people know what it means... I say unblock it.. :)

Oddly enough this is the only forum that blocks it. I go to many forums and use my email addy. This is the only one I had to make up a stupid name, it wouldn't even let me sign up. When car domain was working it wasn't a problem but now I have a cardomain rip off on my ISP and there's no way to remove my name from the URL.

There must be a way to fix this. If you must ban the word then put it in quotes so that having letters directly before and after won't set the filter off. If the word cat was banned for example ban it as " cat " so that "vacation" wouldn't set the filter off.

It rhymes with kite and I think means a Jewish person but I'm not sure. It's actually an extremly obscure word to be in the banned filter and considering some of the vulgar slang that I've seen on this board I'm amazed it's included.

I have never heard of this word.... ever... I had to google it to see what it was...

I agree that it should be changed so that only that word with no letters before or after is the only thing banned... not words with that series of letters in it... the "wikipedia" definition even points out that this word "is a derogatory term used chiefly in the United States" which explains why I have never heard of it! it also says that : "However, it should be noted that "Ki-ke" is a legitimate formal first name (with different etymology) in some languages, such as Dutch and Spanish. For example, multiple-Grammy award winning Colombian composer, Ki-ke Santander[2]."

and that it is also spelled ky-ke

either way, its a bit of an oddball word, and if the filter can be changed to only ban the series of letters "ki-ke" and not a word with that series in it, then I dont see why it shouldnt be changed

The real kick in the teeth is that I can say real profane words like damn shit or hell even and it doesn't block them, just my last name. As far as I can tell it blocks only my last name and the f-bomb.

Just because some people don't know the word or what it means does not make it any less offensive.

However in this case I made some changes to the filter to allow the letter combination to be used within another word.

Racial slurs are probably the most offensive of all language, hence why we filter most of them. And hopefully people can be mature enough that we don't have to filter every curse word in existance. ;)

Thank you. Now I can set up my new homepage, assuming cardomain doesn't fix itself. I like my ISP's free page because it has no pop ups or banners.
