Did you think about having the CF hood painted, the outer edges painted to match the car?

It looks great but not a fan of teh spoiler but the hood looks killer :)

I love the color, and the rims are killer. To me the hood looks weird not painted the same color as the rest of the car. I realize that having CF crap on your car is the new trend, I just personally don't like the looks of it at all. Just as I don't see the point of a huge ass spoiler on a FWD car :P

But if you dig it, cool.

love the car, the color, but not the spoiler... but at least you have a table that is just the right height to set your food on and eat with out sitting down.

are your B pillars carbon fiber as well? if so that looks good.

I think I convinced the hubby-to-be that this is the color to paint our car when we get it done. It's just... too pretty not to pass up! Thank you for being our inspiration :)

Sweetest color on a GA ever! I'd get a more low profile wing, maybe like the RK sport one, your current one goes decent with the car but I think it could be better. But other than that awesome :)

car:gravey:
wing:gay:

But you know, its your car and your opinion. Love the color, and really love the hood. IMO Id ditch the wing and go with a carbon fiber rksport or sct spoiler. Either would look great with the carbon fiber trunklid

ahh yes ive placed many beer cans on it, actually lays quite flat, and hung my towels on it after i get done drying the car down

yea the b-pillars are in fact carbon fiber, as is the wing and the trunk lid, i will be lowering the whale fin as soon as i get someone with an aluminum welder - the mounting brackets only come in that size

That is one badass looking car, man! I'll just go ahead and be the first to say that I like the wing. Sure, there's no point of having it on a FWD car, but it looks killer with your car. It matches the rest of the styling perfectly.

taisgod
08-20-2006, 01:49 PM
nice car overall, but the wing is too much rice.

Great looking car and color. I personally would have used the Carbon fiber truck lid and hood as stripes, or something to intergrade those panels into the painted areas better.

That is completely false.

The drive wheels are of no concern at high speeds where a spoiler like that would create downforce.

Please do a search for posts by me about aerodynamics, downforce, and lift. I simply don't feel like explaining it all right now.

VanishingImage
08-20-2006, 08:30 PM
yea, sometimes those wings actually do generate downforce on FWD vehicles. My buddy has a pretty modded out integra and hes got a CF spoiler thats adjustible. After a few times out on the highway and going over 110mph,there was a decent indentation in the trunk from where the wing was actually being put to use. The wind was pushing it down and pushing down onto the trunk.

But how much did a paintjob like that run you?

Wicked paint job man cost for the deed?

DontPassTheFence
08-22-2006, 03:05 PM
Well the problem with downforce on the REAR of a FWD car is that it puts more force on the rear of the car, which unevens the force over the entire car, mainly the drive wheels. Now, if you have something giving you downforce in the front, youd be best off trying to duplicate the force on the front, and put the same amount at the rear. However, a larger wing such as that Im afraid would create too much drag for any good gains, but with some modification and testing, it could be made to help achieve more stability at higher speeds.

However, Im willing to be that he didnt necessarily purchase this wing to beat his recond around the local road circuit... Its just for looks, and if he likes it, so be it.

I also enjoy the towel hanger idea, I hate leaving towels piled up on my freshly cleaned paint

nice job well done. hafta give congrats on whomever painted your car because they did one hell of a job. it looks flawless.

the wing flows with the car. cut the hieght in half and it'd prob go even better. and those indentations in the trunk means you're getting to much downforce. and it'll prob fly off eventually from the mounting points getting weak. :D

i'm probably going to go with something a bit more on the darker side. i don't want black but i want something that's dark like that but still colorful in the day.. and then black at night. even when you shine a light on it.

Great choice in color,Wheels and getting it lowered. Put the stock GT front back on lose the wing and add an SCT kit and you have one hot a** grand am!

Yeah, he should definately do ALL you told him, being it is your car . If he wanted a stock GT front cap, an SCT kit and a stock spoiler, I would suspect he would have done all that already.
